My husband and I decided that a great time to visit Rose Valley Falls was in the pouring rain -- we reasoned that the Falls would be at their most robust after many days of rain. We were not disappointed. It's a beautiful drive from Ojai (but if you go during a rain, watch out for rock slides onto the... More

This trail is not for the faint hearted if you're doing the upper falls. It's not that long of a hike up but Rose Valley is about 3,000 feet up and the upper falls require you to scramble up and balance yourself on the rocks and branches which help pull you up. We went with our toddler (whom we had... More

The drive from Ojai was longer than expected but worth it. It had rained the previous day and there was still mist on the mountains. The trail was easy and not as muddy as I thought it might be. It was just before New Years Eve and there were a few families but it was not crowded. We brought our... More

Short hike to the falls...but since I went in August, there was not much water. The campground host was very helpful and nice to talk to.

We took a picnic and sat beside the stream below the falls. We greeted and visited with other hikers at the falls while we soaked up the negative ions. There is a small hidden pool just above head level and a little cave behind the falls. It is possible to hike to the top of the falls but we didn't... More

It was a very long drive from Ojai to the Rose Valley Campground. Not much there. A short hike along the creek and suddenly you are there. Perhaps, because it is summer, but the falls was just a trickle of water along a small cliff of rocks. We were very disappointed.

We drove up there on a cloudy day, and the winding road along the mountain had breathtaking views. We made several stops on the way just to take in the view, and it was so quiet that you can hear a car coming from far away. Yes the drive is a bit far from Ojai, but totally worth it! The... More

After reading about things to do in Ojai, this was #2 on the list. We rode up on our motorcycle. The ride was beautiful with yellow foilage along the mountainside, it is springtime. The hike is easy with a gradual uphill, 1/2 mil round trip. During this time, the falls were trickling, not gashing, the other waterfall next to it... More

This is a great little hike. It's about half a mile and you do end up climbing up hill quite a bit to get tot he falls so you burn some calories. The falls are sweet and nice and you can scramble up some of the rocks. When we were there, there was a couple having a picnic at the... More
