Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We booked the high end tasting that included food pairings ($250 per person) and noted in advance one in our party was pescatarian. While three of us enjoyed a fabulous duck parfait with our red wines, she was given the cracker our duck came on (and a store bought cracker at that). I can think of dozens of non meat items that would have been suitable for a red wine pairing (a mole' or unsweetened chocolate parfait, a marinara paste or flan or a " vegemite" style spread)…to pay that much per person and to have your guest given a cracker was most disappointing.

Our private cave tour and library tasting at Far Ninety winery was a delightful tutorial and yummy experience. Our guide was extremely knowledgeable, having been "in the business" for decades. The miles-long cave that was dug into the hillside was impressive--and chilly. The library tasting included their range of varietals paired with little "bites." The wines and food were delicious. Both couples bought some so our tour fee was either all or partly absorbed into the wine purchases. This is an expensive experience, but well worth it for wine aficionados.

Went here in the spring for a wine tasting and had an awesome time. The vineyards are beautiful and may only be topped by how good the wine was. Sean Marshall was our guide and he was outstanding. Took the time to teach us about the wine, we never felt rushed, or pressured to buy. He was funny and never pretentious. My wife and I were complete wine novices and we learned so much. Sean made sure that we felt comfortable and helped us to enjoy everything that Far Niente had to offer. Highly recommended!

This was our second time visiting the winery and first time doing a private tasting. We absolutely love this winery! Not only are the grounds stunningly beautiful- you feel like you have stepped into a storybook- their wine is amazing! We highly recommend to anyone making a trip to Napa that they visit Far Niente. We look forward to the next time we get to visit!

The visual appeal and old-world atmosphere of the main building, followed by a complex cave system made this tour memorable and unique. Our wine educator, Jess, was patient and eager to educate the neophyte and the connoisseur alike. The quality of the vintages were high-quality and we chose to take a couple bottles home. Thank you for a beautiful tour and a memorable experience.

We signed up for the Library/Cave Collection Tasting and it was not worth it. The tour was blah and the food was a good but 5 small bites. The cost is almost $600/person - The food was about $50 dollars worth of ingredients for all 6 plates of bites. 6 of us = approx $1800. They served the min. amount of wine and did not ask if we wanted to revisit one of the wines.

We booked this tasting on line. I was sent a text and email to confirm the tasting. As usual we were running a couple minutes late. As we arrived the gardens were beautiful. The host at the front desk checked us in and assured us it was not a problem being a couple minutes late. Scott gave our group of 8 an absolute top notch tour. His humor was so on point. We loved every minute of the tour and tasting. We bought some wines and our friends joined the wine club. They apparently have some great wine club parties. I hope our friends invite us to attend with them. Great Tasting

We had a fantastic outdoor tasing at Far Niente with our host Howard. The winery is beautiful with many seating areas to relax and enjoy a tasting experience. It goes without saying, but the wines are delicious. Howard catered the tasting to our specific likes/dislikes to ensure we had the best experience possible. A pricey tasting but well worth it in quality and service.

Overall this was our favorite tour in Napa and I would highly recommend it. The grounds are beautiful and unique - plan to spend some time just walking around the ponds or exploring the garage of exotic cars.
I’ve considered Far Niente wines very high quality but didn’t know much about them or the owners. It was really a great experience to learn about them, the history of the property, and to explore the caves of the winery. This is really an impressive and immersive experience! Not only do you get to see the winemaking process, you experience first hand the labyrinth of the underground cellar and the owner’s private wine vault.
Following the tour we not only tasted a number of wines from the current lineup, but were treated to additional tastings from other labels owned by Far Niente. With our booking we were also fortunate enough to be offered a weekday complimentary tasting at Nickel & Nickel, which we loved also! I highly recommend booking this one and then following on with N&N. Many thanks to Stephany for being our tour and tasting guide!!

While doing research on place to visit while in Napa for a week, we saw the online pics of Far Niente’s landscaping, main house and events and knew we definitely wanted to visit here! Upon arriving, we were blown away by the beauty of this place and the grounds… the main house was UNBELIEVABLE and is a registered historic location.
Our wine educator was very helpful and knowledgeable and provided a very nice education to go the tasting, that included info on the ownership of Far Niente and the property.
Be sure to save time for a walk around the property once you’ve finished your tasting, as the pics of this place don’t so it justice and you need to see all this beauty on your own.
Definitely would highly recommend stopping in while visiting the area!!

What would be the price for a 2006 vintage Far Niente chardonnay?

My husband wants to do tasting and tour. I don't drink alcohol. Am I required to pay $65 for me?
Written 1 September 2016
I don't know that answer. I would contact them directly since I did see some young adults on a tour after mine.

Prices of wine tasting and what time of tasting and when are you open?
Thanks

I agree with all the other reviews. It is so worth the time and cost to take this tour/tasting. The property alone is worth it not to mention the excellent wine. As one of the reviews mentioned you MUST make a reservation and do that several weeks before going as they do book up. Special treat aside from all the above: incredible collection of vintage cars!
