Novato has a lot of great places to shop and eat. The best being Masa's Sushi. Truly the best in area!

The 2 negative stars are for the poor design of the "improved Downtown/Grant avenue", thanks to our Novato city officials. Otherwise I would give 5 stars to the local businesses

Old Town is reminiscent of small towns with businesses owned by friends and neighbors and city offices at its heart. If you are shopping for the holidays there is much to find on Grant from Redwood down to Rail Road Avenue. Sage on Grant is a wonderful store with jewelry, art glass, home accents and personal accessories. Other shops include... More

In the 19 years I have lived in Novato, Old Town Novato has been transformed from a fairly lifeless place to a pleasant little "strip" town with quite a few eateries and some interesting shops. Trek Winery is off the strip but worth a visit. Batika is a reliable "Indian " cuisine buffet lunch spot or better still a la... More

I love Old Town Novato for it's quaint small town feel. Lot's of boutique shops and food options. They also have events that are great for the whole family. I live in Novato and I spend a lot of here. It's a great place to hang out and shop!

Although our hotel was a little out of the "downtown" area, we drove into the town and toured it. This is a neat place with many small shops of all kinds. Unfortunately we were there in the evening when they were closed and were due to leave early the next morning so we could not do some shopping. It is... More

I'm biased, because Novato is my home town, however I've lived all over the world and LOVE returning to Old Town Novato! Grant Avenue has the feel of old Novato. Same buildings from years of old, very nicely maintained. Something for everyone! Great restaurants -- My Thai II, Mary's, Grazie's, El Palmar, Marvin's...to name just a few! Amazing (seriously) bakeries!!!... More

Old town charm. Shop local. From Redwood Blvd. to Railroad Ave., try a daytime stroll or early evening walk. If you pay attention, the shops are surprisingly cool. Real good eats on every block. A nice area to discover.

Novato's "Old Town" has struggled for years to be a viable consumer destination. It has not quite made it. It has a number of uninteresting, marginal businesses with a scant few that breath life into the streetscape. You could shoot a cannon down the middle of the backbone (Grant Avenue) after 6PM without fear of hitting anything. The revamped derelict... More

You need to park your car and take a walk along Grant Ave. Start at the railroad, soon to be SMART train, and walk west. Highlights are a peak into what's happening with the renovation of the Novato Theater. Besides the restaurants, bars and cafes, there are many discoveries to be made. One block north is one of the largest... More
