We took the beginners 1.5 hour ski lessons at 1230pm. They had teenagers coaching us. I was lucky to have Jordan a 16 year old who taught us how to do all the basics and more. It's cost $99 for equipment and lesson. The breakdown was $168 and $30 for the 2 of us. I think they start from 8am... More

We had a wonderful experience here, 2 adults and 3 children, ages 8,12 and 13. The best part for me, was the ability to be on the magic carpet slope with my 8 year old ( a first time skier). I rented equipment for her, and then, for just $10, I was able to be on the magic carpet and... More

What a deal! $100/pp to get a 1.5 hr lesson, all ski equipment and access to 2 lifts - which is all we needed to build confidence in our new skiing skills. An early start from the East Bay got us there at 8 as they recommended which allowed us to fill out the paperwork and get outfitted without any... More

Stopped here after hiking for 6 days and I was looking forward to a cheeseburger and a beer. The bartender was surly and very unfriendly. Food was OK but when I asked for the check he tried to charge me for 4 beers. When I first got there other employees said remember the first one is free. Not sure what... More

Came here on December 30, after waiting an hour in line at boreal, and then getting turned away!!! While boreal was mobbed, Donner ski ranch was not too crowded. It's not a large place but has a reasonable variety of nice trails. The lift lines were never very long. The lift ticket prices were more much reasonable than other nearby... More

First time visiting Donner Ski Ranch with family and had a wonderful time. Reached there at around 11:30am and we were lucky that the lines were not long at all. We were able to schedule a 12:30pm lesson for my children as well with plenty of time for equipment rental and sizing before the start of the lesson! There were... More

Donner Ski Ranch is where I learned to ski 33 years ago. It has obviously changed there, but the Ranch has always had a great local feeling and the terrain is great as long as the snow is there. It is south facing so it doesn't hold snow as long as some other resorts. In recent years they have added... More

The Donner Ski ranch is close to Bay Area, the ticket is cheap and it is really good for beginners. It is not very far from I80. I did not need to use chain this time. We had fun and we will come back.

I started to learn to ski this season in Dec 2012, had a group lessons at Bear Valley, Heavenly, and Dodge Ridge each before I took a private lesson at Donner Ski Ranch, and also have skied at Sierra-at-Tahoe and Squaw Valley. My private lesson on March 1st at Donner Ski Ranch was the worst learning experience comparing to the... More

Just back from 3 great days skiing at Donner Ski Ranch which I highly recommend. After January 1st, Tuesday - THursday skiing is only $30 for an adult all day lift pass. And for on $12 more you can get a ski lesson. Normal price is only $49. Almost 1/2 of all other Tahoe ski resorts. No crowds, closest to... More
