This office has several printed sheets that you can take with general info about the area. Your success at getting additional info from the staff will depend on their level of interest, current workload. Some of the staff have been very helpful. Other, not so much.

We drive through often and I am always impressed with the beauty of the mountains and the whispering pines. I am so glad we have the National Forests and we are preserving the beauty and grandeur.

I have been exploring California's great National forests for over 30 years and my favorite in N. CA is Tahoe. Most people are blazing up Lake Tahoe and miss this jewel called Grouse Lakes Basin in the Tahoe Nat'l Forest. It has it all. Close access to the Bar area, 100's of lakes, streams, rivers and tons of pristine forest... More
