    Outstanding Sommelier…and THE VIEW!
The first stop on this Napa trip was at Stag’s Leap Winery. (Note: that is Stag’s Leap with apostrophe S…not S apostrophe. Long story but very confusing.). Our sommelier was one of THE BEST I have ever encountered in Napa so if you book a tasting at Stag’s Leap, ask for Aaron. He even brought some off-the-menu chicken liver patê for us to try. The patê was exactly what I needed at that point in the day. We all agreed that the 2016 Winemakers Series Malbec and the 2019 Cask 23 were our favorite wines of the tasting. But to be clear, no bad wines at Stag’s Leap. Ever.

    A Tasting Tour
Maddi was our hostess and she was amazing! Our wines were a Bordeaux blend are approachable and beautiful! I suggest you sign for wine club membership. It's a great way experience the Napa Valley wines without being in the Valley.

    Great Time!
We were just in Napa for a family vacation and Stag's Leap was one of the vineyards that we visited. We had charcuterie and a wine tasting in the tunnel - So cool! The food and wine were great and Mo, our guide was funny, and very knowledgeable - The most we learned about wine we learned from Mo on our trip. The wine is great, we are having some sent home to us. Great Experience.

One of the worst wine clubs and the customer service is horrible. Never received anything on what they charged my credit card, and the wine was damaged in shipment and now have been waiting almost a month for my refund. Called every week and told every week it will be processed in a week.
Too bad cause the wine is great.

This was far and away the worst tasting experience we had during our trip to Napa. As I am a big fan of Stag's Leap wine, this was the first winery we had on our agenda and we came straight from the airport. We opted for the estate tasting and were brought to our table in the tasting room. Our host came over and asked us if we had any questions before giving us a brief description of the wine. He didn't delve into the history of Stag's Leap or offer any additional insight. He then came back every 10 minutes to ask if we had any more questions. At one point he didn't come back to our table for about 20 minutes so we just left as we had prepaid.

In fairness, we did notice that folks around us had hosts who were providing lots of information, brining out additional wines, bringing out grapes to show them differences, etc. - so maybe this was more of an issue with the specific host we had? The wine is good, but there are so many better tasting experiences in Napa - would not recommend coming here.

Wineries in Napa have become very snobbish. Very few walk-ins available. Daou Winery was the worst! Extremely RUDE! You’re treated like a peon if you don’t have a reservation. If they do decide you’re worthy enough to enter the premises, you’re cast down to the gallows (dirt parking lot).

In general, the tastings at the majority of wineries are overpriced. The selections are not the best.

We found more welcoming wineries in Paso Robles. If Napa gets there head out of the clouds…we may return one day.

Our first stop on Day 2 in Napa Valley - and one of our favorites! We sat on the patio but were able to explore inside for a bit as well and you just can't help but notice the floor to ceiling windows that would allow perfect views in the event you're sitting inside vs. out.

Kelsey was our tasting guide and she was absolutely wonderful. She explained the wines that were part of our tasting very well and shared some of the history behind Stag's Leap and the 1976 Judgment of Paris. On top of that, she was really enthusiastic about helping us discover our favorites wines, even bringing out a few extra tastings when she learned we hadn't tried many Sauvignon Blancs and that my husband wasn't a huge fan of white wine. And we loved them! It was a really fun tasting and a lot of that is because we had Kelsey as our guide.

Definitely recommend adding this to your list if ever in Napa!

A friend recommended we visit Stags Leap but we inadvertently made a tasting reservation at the wrong winery not realizing that there are two Stags Leap wineries (under different ownership). The tasting experience was ok but nothing special and fell short of other wineries we visited. In order to have the tasting fee waived you had to buy a certain amount of wine (not unusual) so we did. Unfortunately one of the bottles of wine we received (and was charged for) was not the one we ordered and over $100 more for this one bottle. Once I realized what happened I responded to the customer survey they sent me and answered “yes” to the question about whether I wanted to be contacted. I also left a detailed message explaining the situation and asked for a return call. I have heard absolutely NOTHING and have to wonder how often these type of mistakes happen.

Longtime Stag's wine drinkers, first-time visitors. We decided to visit the famous vineyards/tasting rooms and were truly impressed by the grounds, staff, and of course the wine. Our hostess was Terri and she was delightful, charismatic, informative, and generous with the wine. Despite the fact we had no intention of joining any wine clubs, we wound up becoming members. While the wine that has been shipped is not inexpensive, we have no regrets whatsoever. The wine club has been a terrific experience and we have received wines that are not usually allocated to the general public. In fact, a family member told us they were visiting Napa and asked us for advice on places to visit. Naturally, we suggested Stag's Leap! After calling and alerting the winery, they were extremely accommodating to our guests. Shout out to Gary for going the extra mile!

Great (expensive) wines enjoyed while overlooking the vineyards. The way this tasting room is situated is breathtaking. The staff was very educational, attentive, and friendly. We purchased 2 Chardonnays and they waived a tasting fee. Great history.

We just returned from Napa and visited 13 vineyards during our 3 full days there (2 were full tours). We sampled several top-rated wines in this charming tasting room and strolled outside to take in the view of their vineyard.

The region gets its name from a popular local legend that tells of a stag eluding hunters by leaping to freedom across the district’s landmark peaks. The “valley within the valley” is home to some of Napa’s most famous vineyards.

Enclosed by the Stags Leap Palisades to the east, and rolling hills and the Napa River to the west, Stags Leap District is occasionally described as the “valley within the valley.”

I didn't get a chance to do the cellers, just the tasting room, but I've heard that if you have time to do the whole tour, it's a knock-out. View of the Fay Vineyard and best view of Stag's Leap.

There are literally hundreds of wineries in the Valley, and Stag's Leap needs to be near the top of any list for visitors. The winery itself is wonderful, but the people and the wine are beyond wonderful

This is definitely a high-end winery experience with great wines and superb hospitality. I’ve been here every time I visit Napa, bringing different people each time, and every time they come away with the impression that Stag’s Leap Wine Cellars is one of the best in the valley. I certainly agree. This time we tried the “Judgement of Paris” tasting which highlighted their SLV Cabernets across 4 different years and sampled a few of the other wines. It’s easy to see why this winery helped put California wines on the map. A special shout out to Steve our host at the winery—way to represent!

The Stag’s Leap story is a historic one. Founded in 1970, in just 6 years the Stag’s Leap 1973 S.L.V. Cabernet Sauvignon won the 1976 Judgement of Paris red wine tasting. Now celebrating their 50th Anniversary, this Napa Valley first-growth estate has continued winning accolades. We enjoyed the Estate Collection Tasting Flight on the outdoor patio overlooking the Stags Leap Palisades and vineyards. What a perfect afternoon, sipping powerhouse reds that included S.L.V, Cask 23 and Fay Cabs. You’ll want to include a visit here because nothing says Napa like Stag’s Leap!
