I've lived in Murrieta for 20 years, and never get tired of visiting "the plateau." If you park at the main visitor entrance, there is a large building with exhibits that are interesting for young and old alike. You can literally do anything from a half mile loop, to a 20 miler, on hilly but not steep terrain. If time... More

Whether your hiking or biking the trails are easy to moderate and a lot of fun. My wife and I have been numerous times and we always choose a trail that we haven't been on in that season. The reserve is beautiful all year around but be sure to watch for snakes and bring plenty of water.

No mud. No bugs. yes, wear boots because of possibility of rattlesnakes. I had planned to only hike 2 or 3 miles, but it was so beautiful that I hiked up to the vernal pools. I got a map and information from the visitor center. Then drove short distance to Hidden Valley Trailhead for a hike to the wildflowers and... More

This reserve is absolutely spectacular in the spring. The flowers and foliage are simply beautiful and spectacular in their scope. I would highly recommend this to anyone that would like to see the true beauty of southern California in its original form. Friends and I went for a hike. With recent rain the vernal pools were full. The mountains in the distance had snow. Made it scenic. It was a nice sunny cool day in Feb. summers will be hot. Fee is 4$ per person. No dogs

The plateau is a beautiful place to hike. Has many different paths that you can enjoy. You can see the Vernal pools in a mile walk or venture out to the adobes. On a clear day you can hike to the top of the hill and see the ocean.

I grew up here and love the hiking, running, and mountain biking opportunities. It's the best in the mornings when it's cooler. Parking is plentiful and the signage is plentiful and helpful. Pick up after your dog and watch out for wildlife.
