Friendly neat small town just off the interstate, named after the rather impressive mountain just nearby. We stopped on the way north heading for Oregon, just to overnight somewhere quiet with some facilities. Ended up staying for a week! Rented mountain bikes, kayaks and did a lot of lake swimming: Siskiyou is really beautiful, easy to park and not too... More

Visit often as we live in Redding. Mt Shasta Ski Park is a treasure with such reasonable rates and perfect for families. They have a variety of runs from one perfect for beginners and others challenging enough for everyone. If you go during a weekday you will most likely have no wait times. The town is fun to wander with... More

We spent the last year living in Northern California, and yeah, it was great that it was always "nice" out--but it was winter and we wanted to see some snow, gosh-darnit!! We drove as high up as we could and tromped around on top of four or five feet of densely-packed snow, my wife alighting on top of it like... More

I visited here for a days skiing while staying in San Francisco. It took approx 3-4 hours drive north of SF to reach. I booked in for a ski lesson. Slope was lovely very organized and the instructor was fantastic very knowledgeable and helpful. Had a great couple of hours on the slopes. The town is very sleepy, quiet and... More

Went there in November after fresh snows. You need to have a four wheel drive. On my way down I saw that a car had skidded off the road. the views are simply breathtaking. Kids can go and play in the snow. the roads were closed after Bunny flat and we parked there. Two restrooms are available there. A lot... More

What a majestic mountain. We drove 8 hours to hike this mountain. Unfortunately, it was raining and surrounded by clouds, so we didn't get to see the vista, but even so, the trails were well-marked and the signs were helpful. They had snow the week before, so the top of the mountain was closed, but we still hiked for a... More

If you are in the area, this volcanic peak is worth a stop - breathtaking views, plenty of photo opportunities, lots of things to stop and see. Plan a day trip, check the weather (especially in Winter), and pack some snacks, a good camera, and comfortable shoes. The views are well worth spending a day here!

If you are in the region, you won't miss it. It stands like a giant and can be seen from almost anywhere in the entire region. There is an easy drive up to the mountain leading to a trailhead. It's worth going up there.
