We would suggest purchasing a guided tour and then revisiting places of interest. The Tourist Information in the town was most helpful.

A short beautiful drive up the mountain which offers fantastic views of the area. Can't believe this is only 15 minutes from the town of Shasta!

We visited on the first day of fall and loved the view from Panther Meadows. It did not have snow on it but it still looked grand and majestic. We would want to see it when it's snow capped. I'm pretty sure it will be...More

I didn’t get to climb it due to health reasons- so given that, I didn’t think it fair to give it higher than an average because I can’t actually tell you anything more about it then the drive. Although my group all lived it! The...More

We hiked the Grey Butte trail which starts just the other side of Panther Meadow. It's a relatively easy hike, well shaded. Not too steep and well marked. Good views of Mt Shasta especially from the top of Grey Butte. Took us 2 hours up...More

We drove up to the last parking spot (+/-1900m) and walked two different paths. The many forest fires around reduced the visibility but the place was still nice and peaceful. The path from the parking to the right until the spring is short and beautiful....More

You can see this mountain, on a clear day, more than 100 miles away. Gorgeous. Majestic. Just wow. There’s a nice lake at its base as well.

Hiking the trails July 2017 was quite the respite from the heat. It was quiet, cool and the scenery was stunning.

Do you have snow tires and or chains? Going over the hill into Oregon is steep. Right now it's not snowing, but check before you go. Bring the chains, they charge a lot up there. Mount Shasta is fine right now, they are... More
