Great experience for boyfriends, husbands and kids. Easy to book online! Would highly recommend as something fun to do when you are at Universal Studios. Bring a sweatshirt , it gets cold especially around 4. The price is a little steep at $50-70 per person for about 5 minutes of “air time”. The check in time is actually when you need to be there, another 30 minutes of classroom instruction. Oh and yes they have bathrooms! The experience takes about 1.5 to 2 hours depending on the group size. You can purchase photos for a few bucks more. Merchandise is 10% off if you buy an Ifly.

I've been skydiving (tandem and dropped from an airplane at 10,000 feet) and now I've been indoor skydiving! I love this place and I always look for Groupon, travel zoo or RetailMeNot.com. If you watch for these deals, then you can pay 1/2 of the regular retail price. Bring snug fitting tennis shoes and be sure someone is outside of the wind tunnel to take your pic (so you don't have to buy the photo pkg if you don't want to). I took two other girlfriends one time and then went with my daughter another time. Both times were thrilling. It's not any more scary than a roller coaster and they are so safe that you aren't going to get hurt (unless you do something stupid that startles the instructor). LOTS OF FUN!

First, the simulator is outside (which they do not tell you that), so strangers gawk at you as you awkwardly are in the flight tunnel. In fact, a few of them took pictures of me while I was in "flight". Second, they only lift you 3-4 feet off the ground. You dont get the sensation of flying at all. Third, you dont do a group flight like they say. It is nothing like in the pictures. Fourth, you have to wait for your entire group to finish which could take ages depending on what time you do it. Fifth, its expensive and they pressure to fly twice or more. Overall one of the most disappointing experiences ever. I wish I would have never ever done it. Oh and parking is expensive.

I'm so sorry for your bad experience. One, as a skydiver I can assure anyone reading this that indoor skydiving is the EXACT same sensation as free fall. Skydivers use tunnels all the time to practice and train. Two, when walking up to the tunnel one sees immediately that it is located right on Universal CityWalk, and others can watch. Three, if you are flying stable enough, your instructor will fly you much higher in the tunnel. Some people catch on faster than others, and there are several factors involved. Most first time fliers that want to go high are taken there. Last, you were given a complete refund as you were not 100% satisfied. We feel from the other reviews we have received here, on Yelp, CitySearch and many other sites that your experience is not the norm. We are deeply sorry for your disappointment.

I rely on TA for a lot when I travel, and this is the first time that I found my experience to be so different than the majority. We have three kids, from 10-15, and were looking for something fun to do as a family on our trip to LA this past week. I knew it would be a little different, and I knew that it was a relatively short experience. I guess because of the glowing reviews, I thought it would knock our socks off. First of all, its expensive! It's not much cheaper than a day pass to the adjacent Universal Studios (which we have done before). For almost the same price, you get a 30 minute total experience vs. one that lasts all day. We bought the family package and were told to arrive at 3:15 for 4:00 "flights". We arrived on time and they had us wait for 15 minutes until the "class" started. The class involved our family and two other groups sitting in a small room and watching a three minute video. After that, our instructor took us into the next room and got us suited up. The helmets and googles were not super comfortable, and we needed to wear ear plugs that kept falling out. After that, we entered the flying area (which is outside on citywalk), and took turns taking one minute "flights". It was fun enough, for one minute, I guess. It was mostly incredibly loud and there isn't enough time to even try and get your bearings. After that, they ask if anyone wants to spend $20 more for another minute. Not really, we already spent almost $300! The family package comes with a video, and afterwards they show you pictures that they took of you and give you the chance to buy them for $5 each. We bought 5 shots, because they were pretty funny, and they said the would email the within 24 hours. That's it! Our 10 year olds liked it, but they aren't the most discriminating audience. They like anything that involves spending money. :). 24 hours later, still no photos. 4 phone calls later, three out of 5 have been emailed to us. We got home and finally watched the video and it's totally glitchy, grainy and unwatchable. Really baffled how this place gets such positive reviews! I know everything is expensive these days - it just seems like there have to be better ways to spend a few hundred dollars. The experience wasn't amazing, and the customer service is pretty bad.

We appreciate you bringing these concerns to our attention. We are continually looking for ways to improve our facility and the overall experience here at iFly and it through customer's feedback that we are able to find these opportunities. We are disappointed to learn that your flight experience did not live up to your expectations, and would very much like to invite your family back to give iFly another chance. Typically the entire process does take about 1.5 hours from start to finish, and we ask flyers to arrive at least 45 minutes prior to their flight time to allow for registration and training. As returning flyers, however, you would not be required to re-take the training class and would also save time upon check-in as your release paperwork is saved in our system for up to 1 year. We realize that the gear may not be the most stylish and comfortable apparel, but is designed for your safety and to maximize the flier's lift while in the flight chamber. While earplugs are not required, and the noise generated by the tunnel will not damage your hearing, we do recommend their use to muffle the sound and eliminate that distraction. Of course, you would be more than welcome to bring your own or ask your instructor for tips on how to wear earplugs if the ones we provide are causing any discomfort. The length of each flight is based off of the average free fall time in a standard skydive. The reason that we always recommend starting off with at least two flights is so that the flier can acclimate themselves during the first one and be a little more relaxed and able to enjoy themselves more during the additional rounds. For those fliers looking to advance in the sport we offer discounted return flyer programs and coaching with IBA certified flight instructors. We are glad to hear that your kids had fun and hope that you will consider coming back to fly with us again soon.

Great adrenaline rush doing it, but way too expensive. You only get 1 minute of flight time since you go in as a group. Would get a much better rating if you got more flight time.

Dec 2010
We had gone on IFly last year with great success in April 2010and thought this would be a great ride/experience for my brothers birthday weekend of Dec 18th. (my brother coming up from San Diego) Go to Universal City do the Ifly ride/experience and then go see a movie.

When I called to make a reservation they said that "Groupon coupon people can't go on Saturdays, but any other time of the week is open to groupon coupon people." We couldn't go the fallowing day because we were going to Big Bear for the next three days. (mind you this was during the really rainy weekend in LA that it rained for five days straight. They then said that "This was mentioned on the ticket" that we got and if they opened up the groupon coupon people to go on this ride/experience to any day they would take over the slots and no general public people will be able to go on this ride. Ok fair enough so we tried to get a reservation for Dec 26th, which was a Sunday.... Except that was fully booked with Groupon coupon people as well because they could not use it on Saturdays... it must have been a popular gift. The manager on the phone did say they sold 10K of these tickets on Groupon coupon when we bought it.

I was tired of this run around with them and trying to coordinate schedules; so my husband took over this and planned it for Jan 9th. We got the reservation for 4 p.m. and had our tickets; brother drove back up to LA we got over there only to find out that we were 8 min late to the pre flight which is 40 min before the scheduled time printed. We got their at 3:34pm and had to sign in to there computers which took another 4 min only to be told that we missed the window and the next time we could go in for the flight that day was 7 p.m. My brother said this was too late for him since he has to drive back to San Diego that night. However when you look at the printed out reservation it says:

(under qty) 1 4 p.m.
(under qty) 1 reserve
(under qty) 1 reserve .... and so on... on the print out it has no itemized thing saying (under qty) 1 4 p.m. flight... then IT SHOULD say 1 3pm preflight check in...

Therefore we decided try to get our money back because we are so TIRED of this run around for this ride/experience and NEVER do this thing again... it is just not worth it this hassle. Which is sad, we were planning to take our future guest (From Canada and Norway) on this ride/experience but if it causes this type of run around, I would rather stand in a long line to Disneyland/California adventure park... at least you're moving somewhere in this line.

I did take action and write to Ifly Hollywood customer support who offered little help (really no help) over this to try to please this customer.

$60 for 2 one minute fights and you have to pay extra to fly higher than 5 feet. Not worth it. you get the feel of skydiving but its short and if you weigh more than 220 you are not allowed to fly.

The plan was to go to Ifly for my friends bachelor/bachelorette party. We were told it would be a fun and exciting experience. Well people not for me. 1 simple gesture to prevent humiliation, or discomfort was totally disregarded with horrible delivery and total humiliation. The waiver asks if you exceed 260 lbs which I do, and I tall and curvy. The waiver states to advise your instructor prior to flying. Okay no problem I would rather discreetly hit yes an tell the instructor discreetly then make my weight known to the whole group and random people standing around waiting for people to fly. Well folks thats not what happened a female employee started going down the list of names and got to mine and said you stated you exceed 260lbs so how much do you weigh? This was done in a loud voice not only infront of everyone in my group BUT infront of everyone standing around. So I said my weight and then walked myself to the restroom where I broke down crying out of sheer humiliation... How was I supposed to walk back out there after that, with everyone knowing my weight and know that I am the only 1 who cannot do the high fly like everyone else in my group. I couldn't ruin everyone elses day especially the soon to be bride and groom. So I said I was too scared after I collected myself and my time was divided amoung my group. I was so humiliated that not only was this experience ruined due to the incompetence of 1 person but the rest of my evening that was supposed to be spent joyously celebrating my friends upcoming wedding. I know this female employee didnt protocol because I know the owner wouldn't want to have his company represented this way. Shame on her. So that is why I do not recommend this place.

I always wanted to try sky diving but not from 12,000 feet so here was our chance. Check in was easy and the staff was very friendly and knowledgeable. They give you a quick class then you get into your jumpsuits and other gear. They take you in the chamber and off you go. When i was in there it was a blast. Follow the instructors instructions to get the most out of it. One minute goes fast. They take pictures so dont worry about that and they do not charge much for a emailed picture. They sent the wrong one and were nice enough to resend the correct one at no extra charge. I went with my whole family. The kids loved it ages 15 and 17. Even my wife enjoyed it and she is afraid of everything. It may be a bit pricey but I feel it was worth it. Have fun!

We enjoy learning how the sport of indoor skydiving appeals to so many different types of people - families, individuals of all ages, those interested in training for skydiving, and those afraid to ever make a jump. Thanks for sharing your feedback and detailed summary of the experience and we hope you will all come back to fly with us again next time you are in California. Please be sure check out our iFLY Hollywood Facebook page as your review was featured this week!
