Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Parking is truly challenging. If you are going to attend a show try to arrive at least an hour early (to find a parking spot and walk). They also don't let you leave early. The venue itself is average, seats are not comfortable.

My daughter's first concert to see Kidz Bop! and then Little Mermaid live! We go occasionally. Best time to go is in the summer. Get the tickets that come with the Waitress service its nice to sit and have the food delivered. Old place but you will have fun. Note: Also buy the cushions to sit comfortably.

My wife and I just walked out of that HORRIBLE disgrace the was supposed to be a Beatles tribute tonight. Shame on Dave Stuart for choosing to book his talentless kids instead of real singers and musicians! That was a disrespect to the Beatles and to those of us who count on Hollywood Bowl to put on a good show. I've never walked out of a concert, but my wife and I both couldn't even make it through the first set tonight. HORRENDOUS! I've heard better karaoke in dive bars!
LOVE the BOWL, but if you have tickets for this 50th Anniversary Beatles sham tomorrow or Sunday, DON't GO!!!

We had a fun evening at the Hollywood Bowl's 50th Beatles concert, met up with old friends for a picnic beforehand. The band musicians were ok, but except for a couple of the female guest singers, it was the worst concert I've ever been to. Amateur-hour. An embarrassment for the HB, and an insult to the Beatles.

I was 'fortunate' enough to secure a great seat to a concert at the Hollywood Bowl late last month (August) and can provide the following insight.
I have been to MANY different concert venues and this is definitely worth checking out! On a (typical) warm sunny So. Cal. evening it is hard to beat. I really like the fact that you can either bring your own food and beverages in ('picnic'), or purchase them inside at one of the numerous (and very expensive) vendors. The sound quality was great, the view outstanding and the whole history and feel of the place was really very cool!
Now, a note to the 'uninitiated'...Prices are high, but for the experience it is probably worth it - once. If buying tickets online (as I did), you may get an amazing seat BUT be forewarned. If you get into a box seat the others surrounding you probably have a subscription to a series of concerts, or else have a friend who has provided them with tickets. What this means is that while you may have gone to great lengths to see a specific entertainer, the other 4 or 5 individuals in the box may simply be there for an evening out since the seats are already paid for. In my case, the others in the box didn't even know who was actually playing that evening, and were only there to be 'seen', have dessert, catch up on gossip, etc. It was pretty uncomfortable being the only one 'into' the music while the rest of the group tried to carry on a conversation around me... The box seats are actually just fold-up camping chairs, crowded into a small space which is very difficult to get in or out of, especially when the tables are up (before the show) and people are eating. I did end up going to the very top of the bowl (take the escalators!) and found the view to be absolutely incredible, especially with the 'HOLLYWOOD' sign in the background. The people in these (equally) uncomfortable bench seats are much more genuine, and there for the show - not to show off. Much more affordable in the nosebleeds too, but really pretty far from the stage.
Also, for those coming from out of town, stay at a nearby hotel/motel (which are not cheap), and forget the parking hassle. It's brutal!
An amazing venue that really should be experienced, but take the above into consideration.

I have never seen nor heard anything so awful! It was more like a bad high school talent(less) show than something the Bowl would ever put on. It was a Dave Stewart Family showcase - nothing more. We walked out mid-way through and we weren't the only ones. I was in tears - How could they do this to our Beatles. Billy Ray Cyrus butchered Hey Jude and I won't even talk about what Dave Stewart's kids did to the songs. If you have tickets for this show -there are unfortunately 2 more nights of this travesty - throw them out and go the movies. You'll be glad you missed this.

How did the Hollywood Bowl allow Dave Stewart to do this? Of all the people who could honor the Beatles - we get his kids and Billy Ray Cyrus. Sad.

You haven't lived in LA or visited LA until you've gone to the Hollywood Bowl. The experience is just as good in the bench seats as it is in the boxes. And as the previous reviewer noted, most of the boxes are purchased by the season holder, high-society elite of LA. Unless you are with a group of 4 and have a box to yourself, it is not a good idea to get a box seat. Bench seats are further back, but a lot cheaper and just as much fun. Definitely get there early with your picnic dinner, and bring a blanket and hot chocolate (or wine) for when the sun goes down and it gets chilly.
Parking is a pain. There are park and ride shuttles that will allow you to avoid the hastle and expense. See (--)

This was a horrible D-grade show "curated" by Dave Stewart. Apparently, his curation abilities don't extend past his own household, as his children were the unbilled feature performers. I, like everyone else in the Bowl, were expecting seasoned talent to perform for us. What I got for $500 was to watch Dave Stewarts children perform in a mockery of a "show." I will be contacting the Bowl on Monday about a refund.

Where do we enter the venue, from the lower or upper part or both?

Looking at staying in a VRBO. What areas are safest and walkable to the Hollywood Bowl. Thanks for your help!

Staying close by on Highland. Is it a safe neighborhood to walk home in after a concert at night? I am only about 4 blocks away but don't know the area.

It can be iffy. The area has a mixed reputation and incidents have happed. Be very aware of your surroundings, other people, and what is happening.

My family of 6 would like to visit the Hollywood Bowl on our upcoming LA visit. I was wondering if we could just walk around the venue and check out the museum. We plan to be in the area on a Thursday in Sept.
Written 5 August 2019
Actually, the Hollywood Bowl is an LA County Park. So you can go and walk the area. It is easier in the mornings, there will security and lots of people getting ready for that evenings concert. The museum is rather small, but there are interactive exhibits and recordings you can listen to. So you can spend as little or as much time as you like. September will be hot, so mornings are good walking time for the Bowl. You are totally exposed to the bright sun, wear protection. Parking is plentiful and it is free on the grounds. There will attendants to tell you where to go. Enjoy the day.

3 questions:
1.how early do I have to get there to reserve a bench to have a picnic?
2.can I take alcohol inside the bowl from my picnic?
3. If I get bad seats... once the concert starts have you guys moved down to better seats that are not taken?
Written 28 April 2018
We go an hour before. But after the new renovations, there are plenty of place to picnic. Skip the benches on the pathway up and enter the venue. That way you beat the lines which can get long the closer it gets to show time. There are maybe 7 or 8 picnic spots on different levels of the venue with nice tables etc.
You can take alcohol in if it's an official Hollywood bowl event. If it is a "leased" event, you can't. The website will tell you which is which.
When we go to the classical nights over the summer, it is easy to move down. Because the bowl is huge (17000) and it rarely fills up. For bigger concerts it gets full and it's harder to move.

Hello,
I have an upcoming concert at Hollywood bowl! We booked garden box seats and had just realised they are foldable canvas seats? I am a heavy man and can admit i am overweight! Are the seats durable for larger people. We booked a 4 seat garden box and will be attending with 3 of my friends.
Thanks

We didn't have a garden box but I'm sure it will hold your weight. Have a great time, it's a wonderful venue.

Where is the free bus from San Gabriel Valley to the Hollywood Bowl, and where is it located? Thank you.

The Pasadena one is next to City Hall. If you buy a ticket for the bus it should tell you also. They have maps of each location on the hollywood Bowl bus website too.

I'm considering attending a concert at the Hollywood Bowl (Tom Petty) and was wondering what peoples experiences have been in the audience? How's the sound/view? Do people stand up and dance or remain seated? Does it vary depending on where you are seated? (Hoping to get tickets near the front).
Written 22 July 2017
Every seat is amazing! We were sitting up higher! Yes, some people stood around us but mostly we're sitting! Lower level seats looked a bit more alive! I was also attending more of a Jazz artist! I think you'll love the experience overall! The outside venue is just spectacular! Cheers~Tiffanie
