Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

We did the Downtown LA walking tour with Damien. We saw and learned a lot and Damien took us to places that we wouldn't have seen if we were on our own - the library, the Biltmore Hotel to name a couple. We stopped for Lunch at Grand Central Market. Damien recommended Maccheroni Republic for dinner which was excellent! Highly recommend.

Sonja was a great guide and an excellent story teller. The tour was relaxed and professional and it was a fun way to see part of LA I would otherwise probably not see. Well worth the trip.

It's crazy how much history L.A. has that I never heard of. I have been driving through these L.A. streets for years not knowing the history of what happened. Really great experience, I would recommend it if you want to know the history of L.A....

I really enjoyed my experience. I booked this trip for my girlfriend for her birthday and we had a blast. Chris was our tour guide and he was entertaining, knowledgeable, and passionate about what he does. The route we went on took us through some of the oldest buildings in DTLA and Chris did a great job not only telling us about some of the murders that occurred in them, but also some of the ghost stories he has heard in the lore as well as recent ghost stories he has heard from current residents of the buildings. Chris also tied in some architectural and Los Angeles history as well!

Expect the tour to be three hours long. We did make one stop at this really cool bar along the way so that was a treat as well. I would definitely recommend this experience.

We are a family of four from London staying in Anaheim and booked this tour as it gave us a a snapshot of the sights in LA in exactly what it says it does' LA in a day'. This is a perfect day trip, early start at 7.00am pick up from your hotel in Anaheim and then 12 hours of sightseeing and fun all for under $100 per person, great value. The tour bus is very comfortable and our tour guide/driver, George, was a bundle of energy and fun keeping us entertained and gave us a potted history of LA and its growth since the 1940's. George made the trip a pleasure for us with stops on route for lots of photo opportunities and great advice on where to eat and drink. We were dropped back at our hotel in Anaheim at 7.00pm ,great door to door service, great value for money, great fun if you want a snapshot of LA this company is the one to book.

This bike tour was a lot of fun as it covered all the main sights of Santa Monica and Venice Beach. Our guide Sylvie was knowledgeable and engaging, and ensured we were comfortable riding.

We had an amazing time exploring the city on this tour during our first time in LA! Damien and Chris both had immense knowledge of not only the true crime locations we came for, but the architecture and history of Los Angeles in general. Stories were engaging yet factual (no fluff), and also were respectful of the victims of the crimes.

The walking never felt strenuous, as we only walked for a few minutes at a time and stopped in front of each location for 10-15 minutes or so. Even though one location is in a seedier part of town, we never felt like we were in danger, and appreciated our guides choosing safe locations for the group to stop.

We also enjoyed stopping at the bar halfway through the tour- loved the spooky antique vibes! Damien gave us some great restaurant recommendations and answered a lot of our curious newcomer questions about LA, and Chris was kind enough to make sure we felt comfortable walking back to our car at the end of the night.

The tour was an exciting way to explore DTLA and see locations we’ve heard about in stories. The 3 hours really flew by! I would definitely recommend The Real Los Angeles Tours to any true crime lover in the area! Thanks Damien and Chris!

Chris was an excellent storyteller and filled his stories with interesting facts and commentary. I was really moved by his dedication to the craft as well as his ability to weave in context to help his guests understand not only the details of historical events, but also the larger societal pressures that led to those events.

I also appreciated Damien’s pinch-hitting for Chris until he could arrive. He shared Chris’ penchant for storytelling and commentary. Both made our small group feel safe and welcome in the imposing city.
