The Grand Central Market is downtown Los Angeles's old public market. It is currently given over almost entirely to eateries of a great variety, many of which are quite good or excellent. There are a few holdovers, including a produce vendor, sellers of pins ans souvenirs, and there are merchants selling clothing, etc. We first went here may years ago and it has changed a lot since then. When we were first here, it was much more quiet and basically entirely devoid of tourists - but back then, as recently as 2011, downtown LA was basically devoid of tourists or the large crowds of affluent,hipsters, etc., that have moved in since then. Most of the eateries here now were not there when we last actually spent time here in 2011, although there are still a few old places which have been here for decades. It's a great place to go to choose from a huge range of things to eat or drink, do a little shopping and see a little piece of old LA, as gentrified as it has become notwithstanding.

This is a great find if you’re staying in the area. It opens from 8-8 seven days a week and has numerous food stalls serving just about any variety of ethnic food you could wish for. Great vibe and is obviously used by the locals as well as tourists. And it has restrooms and a bar!

We walked over for an early dinner. Some stalls were closed, might be open for lunch only. There were plenty of choices, but heavy on Mexican. The crowd was young, 20s, and the music was LOUD. The McConnell’s ice cream was excellent. We took the funicular almost to the front door. Would I go again? At my age, no.

Grand Central Market has many restaurants in it. I ate the lunch at a Thai restaurant. The Thai style’s food and beverage tastes good. The staff of the restaurant is very kind and friendly. I really like my meal. Thank you very much.

A downtown institution since 1917, nowadays Grand Central Market is less a public market and more of a food hall with a bunch of different dining options. I've been to Lucky Bird (fried chicken), Fat & Flour (bake shop), and McConnell's (ice cream), which are all excellent. The Hill St entrance is conveniently right across the street from Angels Flight, and it's a short walk from either the Pershing Square or Historic Broadway Metro stations. On weekends it can get crowded, but there always seems to be space to sit down.

There is nothing not to love at Grand Central Market in Downtown Los Angeles. The parking is a bear, but other than that, it is just fun. It is a full market and also a place to eat. They have stands with all sorts of food, they have an eatery where you can sit down, they have every type of food you can imagine, especially Mexican food. It gets crowded but the crowd is nice and part of the fun of being there. The place is just so big. They keep it as clean as they can for such a big place with people everywhere. You can get things there you will be hard pressed to find elsewhere. They have a collection of chilis that is so big, many of which we had never seen. I had friends in town so off we went to the coolest market. They loved it. They have great sausages and sausage sandwiches. You can eat everything there, but you can take a bunch home and have great food for several days and you can shop there for all your market needs. Getting all your stuff to the car is not fun, but you will figure it out. Whenever you are in LA you must stop.

Large marketplace offering many delicious things to eat. Everything from breakfast foods, fruits and pastries to sushi, Mexican food, and wood-fired pizza. I had a breakfast burrito which was large enough to share with another person. Also had a coffee from "The Donut Man" vendor which was very good, reasonably priced and came with a free refill.

Grand Central Market is a vibrant and historic food hall that has been a staple of the city since 1917. Had not been there in many years and admittedly forgot how huge it was, with over 39 vendors, you can find a wide range of cuisines, from authentic Mexican tacos to fresh sushi, wood-fired pizza, and artisanal coffee1. Some popular spots include Eggslut, Ramen Hood, and G&B Coffee2. The market has retained much of its original charm with wrought iron fixtures and a lively, open-air feel. It’s a great place to soak in the history of Los Angeles while enjoying modern culinary trends. I stopped and got a beet smoothly and a Leberkäse sandwich which were both delicious.
