This delightful voyage will take you through iconic neighborhoods of Los Angeles… and some you didn’t know were there.
Eric Lynxwiler is as charming as he is knowledgeable. His tour includes both historic and modern architecture and landmarks by but most of all, the NEON! Everything that makes LA iconic & unique.

It is sooo nice to see Hollywood and Los Angeles from an open top double decker bus. I actually went on the Haunted Neon Cruise which took in all of Hollywood and Downtown LA. And the Christmas Neon Cruise. All of which is run by the Museum of Neon in Glendale. It is a fine way to see the old Theatre district on Broadway, the Christmas decorations, and Hollywood all without the hassle of driving. The Haunted tour was fun and the guides on both trips were great and informative. The young lady on the Haunted tour had a masters In neon Art. The Haunted tour was spooky. The Christmas tour allowed you to see Los Angeles dressed to the nines.

I had never heard of this but I scheduled two tickets and went. They used a double decker bus. Everyone set up top. It was great. Our guide was one of the best tour guides ever. He was very informative and funny. He even interacted with the pedestrians This tour was to see the neon lights in the downtown L A ,Hollywood, china town and Korea town. It was almost 3 1/2 hours long he explained the architecture of the buildings. How neon lights are made and some of the history . My friend was enchanted as well. It's one you want to take again to see what all you missed the first time. There is a lot to take in Enjoyed it immensely

We all sat in cramped seats but it was OK cause we were on the roof of the bus and that was pretty cool. Our guide was Eric, very witty and professional, and a delight to listen to during the first hour and a half when we passed many LA landmarks. Problem was, his banter got tedious later when he spent too much time hawking his books and "tooting his horn". In fact, the whole last hour including that unnecessary second pit in Korea Town could have been excluded. (He must be getting free drinks at the bar there.) But the very end of the trip when we sped through downtown and looked up at the night city sky was amazing. Do take his advice and pee at the pit stops. All in all - a mostly fun and worthwhile experience, but about an hour too long.

I live in LA and I've taken a lot of tours of LA with visitors and also as a way to get to know my city. I just took the Neon Cruise and it was absolutely awesome. Wish there was a way to give six stars. Eric is the tour guide and he kept us laughing and informed. He wrote the book on neon in LA. Literally. You learn so much more than just neon although that was the focus. Our fellow passengers were wonderful and added to the fun. We had a few stop off points which were always at fun places. You can stay on the bus. It was a clear warm night and still it was best if you had a sweater. I'd bring a scarf next time to keep the hair out of my eyes.

This was such a fun and unique experience. The tour guide knew so much and was so into the neon history, which made this an even more interesting and enjoyable evening. His enthusiasm was contagious. The stops are great and the history is so rich.

My daughter and I had been wanting to do this tour for a couple of years, and I'm so glad we finally did! The three-hour tour is an excellent trip through downtown LA and Hollywood. It's not just focused on neon signs, though there are many more than I realized. We also learned about all of the theaters in the area and other buildings that seem to be converted to loft housing more often than not. Our guide, Eric, was so knowledgeable. Though he says it's a tour for locals, we're not from LA and still enjoyed it immensely, perhaps more so because we're not that familiar with the area. Still, fun to see the original location of the Brown Derby and other classic spots. Our first stop on the tour was Chinatown, which is an absolute riot of neon - gorgeous! There was a special summer evening festival going on, and everyone was shooting off these giant poppers with confetti - so fun! We also stopped in Korea Town, where my daughter and I dashed across the street to a great place with shaved ice cream (not shave ice, but actual ice cream shaved in front of you) that was so delicious. We learned a lot about LA's storied history, and I can't recommend this tour more.

Disregard the one negative review on this attraction. The Classic neon cruise is a fascinating look into the bright lights and culture of L.A. and Hollywood. Eric is an exceptional guide who has the expertise and humor to make the 3 hour tour a memorable experience. As Eric states "this tour is not for tourists but for Angelinos" There are several stops on the tour so you can use restrooms, stretch your legs, or wander around both the China and Korea town areas. Hollywood can be crowded so you may or may not get down to Grauman's Chinese Theater or El Capitan Theater but there is plenty else to see elsewhere. The only drawback on the tour is this: They use a Starline Hop On Hop off double deck bus. The seats are extremely tight and uncomfortable if you are over 6'2" or a large person. I was suffering since I am 6'6" and every seat was taken so I could not sit apart from my wife. Also the stairs are extremely narrow with a low ceiling to the top deck of the bus- could be an issue with persons with mobility issues. Took 10 minutes to off load everyone. Sit in the back of the top deck- that is where Eric speaks from and you would be the first off the bus. Unfortunately there are people who like to talk while Eric is speaking (which is rude to others) and another good reason to be close to him. A suggestion- if you are dining out try the Nickel diner down the street as Eric recommends. It was featured on Diners, Drive ins, and Dives. Good food and reasonable prices. Parking is $10 at 415 S. Main Street- a block from the pickup point. Or take the Red Line to Pershing Square and walk about 4 blocks to the pickup point.

This neon sign viewing tour is so much more than just looking at signs. I have been on the Classic Neon Cruise as well as the special Glendale Neon Cruise. Arrive near the meeting spot early and enjoy dinner at one of the local restaurants. Try something new that you haven't been to before. We had a wonderful tour guide, Eric. He knows the city inside and out. As you drive around the Los Angeles and Hollywood areas of town on the top of an open double deck bus you not only get to see the signs but you also get some of the local history of the establishment, you drive through neighborhoods that you have never been to or known about, it is also somewhat of an architectural tour, and history tour. There are beverages and snacks available. The Glendale Neon Cruise featured a pre cruise reception with desserts and wine. It can get chilly so dress warm. There are mid tour stops at different famous LA deli's or other eateries. I'd go again.
