Neighbourhood: Hollywood
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.

Open-air shopping center with fantastic views of the Hollywood sign from its rear. (after various photo attempts along the boulevards). There is one hour of free Wi-Fi, always useful toilet facilities (it's difficult to find them in the area) and pleasant shops to visit.
The boulevard is nice to walk down and I was lucky because it wasn't too crowded
Choreographic characters not to be missed

Open air mall not many food choices. Dolby theatre on property and TCL Chinese theater in front of mall. This is very busy , and crazy environment, nice to see history. Has a view of the Hollywood sign on 3 Rd level bridge, but still small view for pics.

I enjoyed my time on Hollywood and Highland. It was a great way to see the walk of fame, the Chinese theatre and get some shopping done. Was a great way to view the Hollywood sign. And got my parking validated just for buying something in the shopping area. It’s a must see!

Hollywood and Highland is one of the hubs in Los Angeles and definitely a place to visit. They have a large mall here called Ovation Hollywood, the famous Walk of Fame, the huge historical Dolby Movie Theatre, and lots of entertainment.
El Capitan, Ghirardelli's, and the Chinese Movie theatre are some of the cool places to check out. The Hard Rock Cafe is a nice place to come for lunch as well.
Parking is validated for 2 hours at some of the restaurants here as well. Come sightsee and explore.

We parked under the shopping centre and got our ticket validated by buying a $1.50 postcard so it only cost $2! If you walk through the parking lot you come out just a few feet from the walk of fame and Chinese theatre so it couldn't be better placed.
Nice shops inside too for when the heat of the day is too much

This is the easiest, most convenient way to park, and see the walk of fame, and the Chinese Theater. Gps the address, grab a ticket from the automated lift gate, park, carry the parking ticket with you. Make any purchase in the mall directly on top of the parking garage. When making a purchase give the cashier your parking ticket. They then will validate your parking ticket, so you only have to pay a few dollars to park. Carry the ticket with you. Once you go to leave the parking garage you insert your ticket into the exit lift gate. The only way to avoid the high 15.00 parking charge is to make any purchase in the connected mall, and have your parking ticket validated. There are signs at all the shops that read "validate your parking here", very easy. As soon as you exit the mall you are on Hollywood Boulevard, standing on the walk of fame. You also are standing right out front of the Chinese Theater. Not much else to see on Hollywood Boulevard. We were able to park, walk for a few minutes to see the stars on the walk of fame, see the Chinese Theater, take pictures, and leave. Only took about 1 hour. Very safe also, it was just myself and my teen daughter, on a mother daughter trip.

We walked along Hollywood boulevard in search of the famous stars and the hand prints in the paving slabs. The stars are all the way along Hollywood boulevard and some are in need of repair. The stars foot and hand prints are outside the Chinese theatre right next to highland centre.
We arrived at the Highland centre and was surprised at how nice it was, the shopping centre area was clean and well looked after compared to the boulevard itself.
As this is a tourist trap There are plenty of people dressed up willing to have a photo with you but then will demand payment for this, so don't bother!!!
Over all highland was lovely, got a great view of the Hollywood sign from the second / third floor, some nice shops and
Lovely restaurants and a good choice fast food places.
Well worth a visit.

Hollywood and Highland Centre is an oasis on the busiest strip of Hollywood Blvd. The best place to come after walking up and down the Walk of Fame and getting pictures of the occasional busier and the many celebrity look-a-likes.
It has a seemingly mixed theme, which echoes Egyptian culture along with giants elephants sitting up on their hind legs on podiums with lion carvings. It is a really interesting place to look at as well as having great views behind the centre up to the iconic 'Hollywood' sign, and in the front you can get great views of the downtown area all the way down to the ocean on a clear day.
There are some great shops for girls and guys, many restaurants and fast food and takeaway places, and a nightclub. It also has a wet dry fountain that the kids can play amongst of a warm day.
Spend a little time, look around, relax, you never know what you may find there!

Hollywood & Highland is a great shopping mall, with lots of shops, eating places, toilets and an area free from the Blvd madness. But the fun is on the rear open levels where oyu can get a great view of the Hollywood sign, apart from the top level where a security guy moves you along, time it right while he looks one way with other people trying to stop, you head the other and you have your photo.

The shopping complex off Hollywood Blvd is a great place to see the famous Hollywood Sign. If you make your way to the top level at the back of the complex to the bridge walkway, there is a full view of the sign and a good photo opportunity. The complex itself, is good for strolling around and you can grab a bite to eat.
TIP- If you need to find parking, We drove along Hollywood Blvd (the Chinese Theatre being on our right) and turned left onto Highland Ave. If you drive down a bit on your right is a school, and during school holidays it is opened as a parking station and it was only $10 for the whole day.

Hi, are there free (as in they don't charge withdrawal fees) atms in the shopping mall? I tried to find this info on the website but they only show stores on the mall map.

I'm thinking of going here but in public transportation.Do they have good stores??When you leave the mall is there parks and local stores around??
Written 6 August 2016
This area has many stores, not so much upscale as more popular, but depends what you are looking for if this should be your shopping destination...local stores seem to be a thing of the past, as these seemed more standard chain types, but everything from Sephora to DSW. Lots of places to eat and many tourist attractions. I didn't venture outside the area much, so I can't speak to parks...didn't seem like a park-type neighborhood.

OK, this is going to sound corny but just curious how much the costumed people charge for photos.
Written 25 March 2015
The first character I encountered was Capt. Jack Sparrow. He was very well done, great costume, makeup, the whole nine yards. He did not ask for money and told me the artists should not be asking you for money. Obviously I was going to tip him, we took photos. He even held my dog, Jack, which was brilliant. The only other artists I posed with were Willy Wonka and Edward Scissorhands (do you see a trend here?) gave them each a few bucks. Honestly, those 3 were the best costumed and seemed to take their art seriously. Others had on very cheap looking costumes. Wouldn't borher with them.
