Established in 1934, when a dozen local farmers parked their trucks on an open field (once a dairy farm) to sell fresh produce to local residents, the Market has remained true to its roots ever since. With nearly 100 dining, shopping and grocery opportunities, Farmers Market has something for everyone. More than seventy-five years later the Farmers Market remains the one stop shop for every visitor’s needs.

The Original Farmers Market

We had lunch at Monsieur Marcel and the food was delicious. We shared the crab cake and quiche with fries.

The Original Farmers Market was the site of many fond childhood memories from 50+ years ago. Some things, of course, have changed. The north wing was torn down. Yet, visiting the market is still fun, tasty, and adventuresome! Several of the vendors still remain such as Marconda's Meats. Others are "newer" such as Monsieur Marcel gourmet market and restaurant. Both... More

The place is wonderful to walk, rest and get a good local food. I loved to go there and try different ones. There is a place of chinese food that is very simple but almost perfect in my opinion. Great place to go.

I love the original Farmer's Market...and with it combined with the Grove, it combines the best of old and new. It's a great place to get some food and also shop at some unique little shops. Get there early as it fills up pretty quickly with tourists.

This is the best Farmer's Market I have been to and literally there is something for everyone. From Du-pars to ethnic food to candies and souvenirs ... I wanted to try everything. A lot of it is covered so inclement weather can be tolerated ... it was quite cool while we were there. We went there on a tour bus... More

WOW! If I lived in LA, this would be my spot! The fresh meats and produce with the quaint shops. It was a perfect place to visit! We went over to check out the service station and the original green shopping carts. So fun!

When you're tired of shopping in The Grove's zaras and nordstroms come here to have some good (but a little bit overpriced) food. On weekends night you can even catch live music performances.

I simply love this place! Taking a stroll among the small shops and savoring some food is amazing. When I first visited the Farmers Market, I thought I'd have never found anything like this in LA. I suggest to go for a walk here on a sunny day, browse around the market and try some foods/drinks. They also organize a... More

Food stalls, eateries, and produce markets greet the visitor who happens to visit the place. The place was set to have been built in the 1930s and was and is still is now, a very popular landmark in LA. There is a street car that connects it to The Grove.
