Located in on Mount Hollywood in Griffith Park, the Observatory offers a planetarium, exhibits, public telescopes, cafe, bookstore, and the best views of the Los Angeles basin. Admission is free, and visitors may drive directly to the Observatory and park in its lots and roads.

Love free sights! We drove to the observatory and parked at the top ($4//hr) we stayed for about 45min, great view of the Hollywood sign and interesting cosmos facts. Kid friendly!

The area outside of Griffith observatory is open and freely accessible, but you will have to pay for parking.

There is not a closed off area to the outside, so you'll be fine to go at any time but just in case you wanted to know the hours they are: monday: closed, tueday-friday 12pm-10pm, saturday-sunday 10am-10pm I would also... More

I just called them for you and they said they will be open that Saturday and observe the holiday on Monday. (So closed on Monday)
