Neighbourhood: Hollywood
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.

Bait and Switch made into an Art Form at GC.

For the second time Guitar Center has notified me the guitar I want is back in stock, I ordered and received confirmation it was being prepared for shipping, called and spoke to them being told I will receive an email later that day or next with tracking info.

Then just like last month an email comes saying that it is back ordered. That’s not a problem though they offer to sell me something else instead.

That’s called Bait & Switch and Guitar Center has made an art form out of it as their business model.

Great place to spend an hour. Hand prints on the floor of the entrance is fun, finding your favourite bands.
Shop is very relaxed, no pressure to buy, staff were friendly.
Great selection of guitars and other instruments to browse.

Sad to see Guitar Center in financial trouble as media reports, but after going back in there you can understand why. Nicely stocked showroom but the staff are appalling. From the guitar sales person yelling at his co-worker or should I say screaming when he was just checking out a guitar on the ladder for me. No one in the guitar section even came over to say hello or if they can help especially when you are looking at a top end Martin and the poor boy was then sent packaging. You would expect more attention. Then at the counter!!! No keys to open any locks as only the manager has them and can’t be found. Plus she couldn’t even get into the cash draw to give the correct change. Customer Service THERE WAS NONE!!

I never understood why do we keep buying anything from Guitar Center. Their merchandise is in very low quality, and their guitars look cheap even though their prices are up in the sky. Whatever you want to buy from Guitar Center, you can find it anywhere for way less. Moreover, the resale value of their guitars is zero, according to them.
10 months ago I bought a guitar from their Sherman Oaks store for nearly $500. I went there earlier today, I wanted to exchange the guitar for another one they have and I was willing to offer money on top. They offer to buy my guitar $75 !!! A guitar that I bought 10 mo ago, from the same store, for $500, and wanted to sell it back in the same condition I got it, they offered $75 for it. By that they told me "Do not buy anything from Guitar Center, you won't be able to sell it later". I didn't ask for $500 and I knew to expect way less than that. But $75 ???!!!....It happened to me a few times before at their store. Why will you buy anything from Guitar Center? No wonder they are bankrupt, we are suckers but only to a point !!!

Our 13 year old son plays the guitar and is in to rock music so this was a must visit place for our family. My son absolutely loved it! He spent ages in the shop testing out various guitars and loved the hall of fame hand prints out the front. There is some famous memorabilia to see too. Not just guitars, me and my daughter enjoyed the keyboard/piano section too. Staff were very helpful and friendly.

This store is almost a tourist spot, instead of just a store. Those shows are recorded here. That's where there's a wooden wall lined with guitars. The place is air-conditioned, with several sofas. High-end guitars and acoustic guitars. You pick up an instrument, sit on the couch and spend a few minutes playing. Great experience. For those who like music and are musicians.

I did not actually go to the store as it is on the other side of the country from me. I am interested in purchasing a guitar the have at their store on guitar centers website. I sent a email 2 days ago to the store telling them I was interested in the guitar and ask several questions about its condition. No one ever responded. I tried calling the store 4 times today and the first 3 times no one would answer the phone. The 4th time a girl answered the phone with hello and then hung up on me. This is horrible customer service. If they do not want my business I will take it elsewhere. Its an insult to me as a customer to be treated this way.

LOTS of instruments in the store and you can play to your heart's content, for hours if you want, without any salesperson coming to push something or complain. And it's also worth seeing the famous stars outside the store to take photos (Iron Maiden, Joe Satriani, etc.)

It's definitely worth a visit for anyone who is a musician or likes music.

It's still relatively close to Hollywood and the Sunset Strip!

This guitar centre is a really cool visit especially for the rock walk and the outside design. You won't be disappointed.

This is the paradise of every musician in the world. Before entering the shop you can explore the sidewalk looking for music gods, and goddesses, handprints and signatures. Big breath and you can enter: the number of instruments is impressive, from cheap to rarities. I think it's the best shop I saw in US. I'll be back for sure.
