This is actually the last authentic place left to drink on Hollywood Boulevard, a legendary speakeasy with neon and caricatures on the walls. With characters drinking elbow-to-elbow and the famous Panteges theater next door. Outside drug-addled teenagers and homeless wander down the street hobnobbing (OK, panhandling) with tourists... whereas in here you've got the classic speakeasy respite with legendary murder... Was in Hollywood to purchase tickets at the Pantages Theater and we decided to stop in for a gin and tonic....I have been here in the area numerous times and had never been in this bar. It is small, a little dark, clean and comfortable. You can tell it's been there a long time and that it was most likely... More

Step off the path and enjoy! If you are walking down Hollywood Blvd and needing to escape the glitz and glam of the stars and needing something besides pop music blazing at your ears, stop for s drink in the Frolic Room. Upon entering your ears will be welcomed with the sounds of either classic metal, fantastic rock, or something... More

Called in here after reading the good reviews on trip advisor. Great bar. Nice vibe. Ordered a pint of beer plus gin cocktail . Game to 9 dollars. Cheapest drinks so far on our holiday. Well worth a visit.

The Frolic Room has been around for ages. Pictures on the walls tell the story of who has visited this dive bar located just half a block past Vine on Hollywood Boulevard. The bartenders are friendly. The drinks are inexpensive. Jukebox is great. It is a place to stop and sip a cool cocktail or beer on a hot day.

Who used to drink at the Frolic Room in Hollywood? Who didn't?? From Frank Sinatra to Orson Welles, this bar has hosted more of Hollywood's stars than it can probably keep track of. The first thing you need to know is that Hollywood Boulevard as it is known today isn't the Hollywood Boulevard that was known in the 1940s and... More

A nice atmosphere, a kurt bartender and some old tunes make this place a gem which is stuck in between a bunch of trendy over priced tourist traps.

We were looking for a local dive and we found it. Great low key vibe. Service and prices are on point. Great place to hang out.

I visited the Frolic Room bar in April 2015, with some friends. We all enjoyed having a drink in one of the oldest bars in Hollywood. The Frolic Room is located on Hollywood Blvd, next door to the Pantages theater and across the street from the Red Line Metro Subway stop. The bar is very small, old school decor, and... More

One of the oldest remaining bars in Los Angeles, Frolic Room stays true to dive bar status. Drinks are cheap and strong! If you're looking for a nightcap or a nip before the theater, then this is the choice!

Staying in Hollywood

Neighbourhood Profile
Hollywood undoubtedly conjures up images of movie stars and high-end lifestyles, and to this day, tourists flock here from around the world to see the iconic Hollywood Walk of Fame, Chinese Theatre and to catch a glimpse of the famed Hollywood sign up close. Celebrity impersonators and crowds give these areas the feeling of an amusement park while many clubs and hotels fill up around the weekends for late-night partying - the Hollywood club scene is a haven for thumping music and table-side bottle service. But parties aren’t the only way to enjoy this area, many visitors come to the neighborhood to sit back with a picnic to watch a performance at the Hollywood Bowl and those looking to stay fit trek along nature trails in the Hollywood hills and in Griffith Park.
