- Claire LTucson, Arizona3 contributionsNot Enough TimeWe opted for the VIP Experience, thinking it was solely for the Wizarding World of Harry Potter. However, we saw everything but Harry Potter until we left the group and explored on our own. Harry Potter World was great but we didn't get to see much of it because, by the time we finally found it and began to explore it, it was late afternoon and I was getting tired. I would go back again but not get the VIP Experience again. That was disappointing!Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 23 April 2024
- OttermomSioux Falls, South Dakota109 contributionsNeed several hours just for this areaThis requires half a day in itself. We started here, right when the park opened. There are wands to purchase & you are given a map to do the interactive magic experience. We ran out of time going other stuff & didn’t get to do any of those. We had a VIP tour we had to get to. Our guide took pics of us in front of the castle. The stores are decorated great. You really need to go into each one, even the food places. We wished we had done an owl post. Butter Beer is a must, it’s $10/cup. Do not get the Butter Beer ice cream, it tasted like regular vanilla, not worth the $$. I’m giving it 4 stars simply because we couldn’t do the whole thing.Visited June 2024Travelled with familyWritten 17 June 2024
- Yeti1988Denver, Colorado205 contributionsPretty darn coolNot what I would refer to as a Harry Potter fan, but I found the books and films entertaining. Again, this is another deeply immersive experience provided by Universal. From the costumes to the props to the food vendors and the rides, you feel as though you are there. Both if the rides were enjoyable. I personally enjoyed the Flight of the Hippogriff: a short but fun coaster. Also, the "wand fitting" at Ollivanders is entertaining as well. Try a frozen butterbeer while you're there! Delicious!Visited June 2024Travelled soloWritten 27 June 2024

We've been to the both this one before and the one in Orlando. It's very unimpressive compared to the 2 parks in Orlando, so if you have the opportunity of doing California or Florida, pick Florida definitely. It's good to know the magic wands work in both places. We bought ours in Orlando and used them here.
The place was really busy when we went and we struggled to get a spot to watch the light show in the evening. Make sure you are standing close to the stage area to get the best viewing spot.
The price of butter beer is exorbitant ($8 USD a cup), but still probably the best thing about the place.

Every time I visit Universal Hollywood, I always make sure that I stop off at Hogsmeade. The layout of this place makes navigating around really easy and it never feels as crowded as it actually is.
First thing to do is try the butter beer, granted it's expensive for what it is but it's one of those things that you have to try since you're there! (I mean what's an extra $20 for a butter beer after you've spent more than enough on a ticket for universal hey)
If you're happy to walk around with it for a while then get the frozen version as it lasts a lot longer but does take what feels like an age to melt. The alcoholic version literally has a shot of fireball whiskey in it and is not worth the extra $10-$15 or whatever I paid for it.
I've visited this place 3 times (all around October/November) and I've never had to question for any of the rides. Flight of the hippogriff is primarily for children but it's still enjoyable as an adult for the 60ish seconds the main attraction if inside Hogwarts! Quite simply, Harry Potter and the forbidden journey is incredible and I make sure to experience this every time I visit!

The park area is pretty nice, clearly most of the budget was invested on this area, and the immersive experience really gives your the feeling that you are in Hogsmeade.
There are three attractions here, and I personally thing they were pretty average. My favorite one was the thrill ride in Hogwarts, and entering the castle itself and the line experience were all incredible. If you'd need to chose one attraction, this should be it.
Flight of the hippogriff is a small coaster perfect for small children and people that don't really like roller coasters. However, due to its short duration, you really shouldn't go there if the line is over 20min long.
Ollivanders is fun if there is a child on your group!

We have been to Universal Studios in FL, so the Harry Potter world wasn't new to us. It seems like an almost exact copy of what is in FL but it is still fun to be walking through Hogsmeade and the shops. You do feel like you are part of the Harry Potter books.
The 2 rides couldn't be more different. One is a small roller coaster that is really not worth riding on. They really should do more with it. The other ride, Harry Potter and the Forbidden Journey, can be pretty scary as you come really close to animatronic giant spiders and dementors. The ride mechanic is very cool and really not something you find in Disneyland.
The stores in Harry Potter World are exactly what you would expect. The wand shop has walls stacked with wand boxes from floor to ceiling. You can buy house cloaks or Quidditch team uniforms in another store. And of course there is Honeydukes, where you can get candy that is described in the books.

Kids who read Harry Potter will love this place as they can see the wizard village come alive. They have the wand shop, and two rides. The wizarding world ride with quidditch games on screen is amazing. The wait times range from 50 mins to 90 mins for this ride. It is also lit dimly and folks may require extra light especially seniors who are trying to walk the path. Keep checking the app as the wait time reduces.

Castle ride was great. Super busy. Free locker usage for 90 mins, no bags allowed on the ride, you must lock up for stuff. The other rollercoaster is super quick ride, like 1 min worth. Lots of little shops, super pricey. 119. For a robe. The singing toads show was really good.

I went as a Harry Potter fan along with my friends who aren't, and we ALL enjoyed the Wizarding World of Harry Potter at Universal Studios Hollywood. The shops were fun and super detail oriented, and the ride at Hogwarts was so much fun! The Hippogriff ride was a bit boring though and can be skipped. You absolutely have to trip their Butter Beer if you go.

We went to Universal for Hogsmeade and absolutely enjoyed ourselves.
We ate at the Three Broomsticks and loved it!! Huge portions.
Was crazy excited to try the Butterbeer, but were a little disappointed. It was crazy, super sweet. The head on it was amazing, but the liquid left a little to be desired. We didn't try the frozen one, but probably should have.
You have to go the bathroom in Hogsmeade. They are very, very clean and nice and Moaning Myrtle can be heard in the bathrooms.
The Forbidden Journey ride has small chairs, so if you are bigger, you may not get to ride. But if you don't, ask if you can go in and walk through the castle and they will give you a walk through pass!!
The attention to detail in this area was out of this world amazing!! I was completely amazed by it all.
This is a truly magical place....and we also swore they pumped cold air into the area because it was colder in this area than any other area of the park!!

This a great area of Universal even if you’re not superfans.
The Forbidden Journey ride is great, but the flight of the hippogriff ride is very short and slightly disappointing.
The set is great, and realistic. Only visit Ollivanders if you’re happy to pay $65 for a wand, because your children will definitely want one after the experience, especially if they’re the “chosen one”! The interactive wands are great.
Butterbeer is around $9.50. The foam topping is very sweet and you can probably share one between 2 of you.

This place is absolutely incredible. We have visited a number of times and it never loses its magic. Even though who know little about the Harry Potter films or books will still find this to be a wonderful experience. There is a great mix of speciality stores, rides and places to eat. The entire place is themed and well maintained. Very hard to find any faults. Must do attraction.

Is The Wizarding World of Harry Potter technically the same as Universal Studio Hollywood, i.e. it is part of the same park and you do not need to pay a separate fee for Harry Potter?

A que hora recomiendan llegar? Dice en descripción es 1 o 2 hrs.. es así?? Se puede solo recorrer esa zona o se paga el acceso a todo el parque universal? Gracias
Written 22 March 2022
Exploring could take just an hour - but immersing yourself in the entire experience could take up to 3 hours.
Seriously, I took the whole ass day to do the other par rides and experiences, and didn't even get a chance to properly shop at HP land, because I had to stand in the queues for the rides you cant miss - them queues is LONG!

Hi. We are going to LA for the holidays Dec 24-Jan 2. . I know the park will be busy but is there any day that will be less crowded??
Written 21 November 2019
We went when the park opened, went straight to the ride and got on straight away no waiting.

Hi ! I would love to know which Harry Potter shop I could buy the time turner from as a friend is going there and I would love her to get for my granddaughter they are visiting the LA universal studios 😊
Written 12 November 2019
There is a shop easy to find that is right under the castle. That is the simple one to explain how to find and I know that it is in that one. But sure that you can find in the other gift shops as well.

Planning to visit Los Angeles at early December, thinking of booking a Go Los Angeles city pass which includes our entrance in universal studios and I was wondering if you have to pay something extra for the Harry Potter experience or also if there is a reserve option(I’ve read somewhere about it).thank you for your time😊

Can I use my interactive wand at the UK Harry Potter Sudio?
Written 6 November 2019
There was lots of interactive wand spots and lessons going on around hogwarts

Planning to go to Universal Studios Hollywood this coming Wednesday (September 25). How crowded do the rides for Wizarding World get on a weekday? Should we plan to head to these rides first thing when we get to the park or can we do it anytime without waiting too long?
Written 20 September 2019
If you have older kids or adults, consider the single rider line. No, you won't get to ride together but the wait time is considerably shorter and you don't have the additional FastPass cost. Not a good option for groups/families wanting a group experience.

We just went on the rides and did not purchase anything while there.
