We visited a day after Tioga reopened after an uncharacteristic Fall snow shower. The winter landscape was magical, snow clad and sunny as we drove in from Lee Vining. Budget at least 2 hours for the drive, taking plenty of opportunities to step out and...More

The eastern Gateway to Yosemite, Tioga is a breathtaking, engineering marvel! There are beautiful views to the Sierra heading west and to Mono Basin traveling east. As this is a steep mountain road, please use turnouts if you are not comfortable driving the speed limit!...More

Gaylor Lakes hike, Pothole Dome, Lake Tenyaya, Olmsted Point - just a few things you don't want to miss while driving this picturesque road into Yosemite! Not very busy compared to other roads in the park.

Tioga Road/Tioga pass runs to/from Yosemite and Lee Vining and is closed during the Winter due to snow, so worth checking it's open if you plan on travelling before May. The drive is just stunning, passing mountains, meadows, lakes, waterfalls, etc. Plenty of safe stopping...More

Having spent the early morning until early afternoon in Yosemite Valley my husband and I took the Tioga Pass to Lee Vining. What a trip! Wouldn't have liked to be driving a large RV and some of the drops (with no barriers on the roads)...More

Tioga road offers amazing views of the Sierra Nevada. You could spend all day stopping to take in the views or hiking. If I lived in the area this would be my go to spot every weekend for something new.

The high pass roads are usually closed in November due to snow. Use the Big Oak flat entrance or the South entrance
