We went here with my bf, wonderful place to work out! Get those glutes work out, going up and down...this also leads to the beach. A little private (somteimes it can get crowded) beach area for workout/sunbathing.

we are currently training for the ascent up Mt. Kilimanjaro and have found that this is the best place for that kind of workout. 218 steps (not 1000) up and then back down. do as many sets as you want. it's a great workout. the steps are very steep. I'd guess probably 100% grade (8" up, 8" step), so you... More

It's one of the many nice beaches in the area. The stairs are steep, so pack light -- you probably don't want to carry a lot of junk down to the beach and then back up while dodging people who are exercising. I don't know for sure about winter weekends, but I don't believe there are lifeguards on duty during... More

parking is hard to find and can be dicey on PCH. Ocean is rough and not suitable for inexperience Pacific Ocean swimmers, although there is a lifeguard. Clear water and beautiful crashing waves make the 237 steps back to the street worth it.

Wanted to see the sunset over the beach and took the opportunity to visit 1,000 Steps Beach. The trek down is easy (logically) and we came on a great day right in time for a beautiful sunset. We snapped a few photos, took a short walk along the beach and then headed back. There are people going up and down... More

A bit tricky to find entrance. At the intersection of 9th Ave. Beautiful views! Travel light as you will have to climb back up. Nice town with many good places to eat as well.

Beautiful beach, not sure where everyone was parking as it didn't look like there was any parking around. We had to park on the side of the road and then walk along a busy road with no sidewalk to get to the entrance.

We love this beach but watch out for the surf and the sun! There is not much shade and a very steep hike down the stairs.

It's fun with kids to compete who is fastest up and later, fastest down and try to count at the same time.

There are about 220 steps, and when you reach the sand you are happy you made the trek! Street parking is limited on Pacific Coast Highway. If you are not specifically looking for this location, you would never know it's there just by driving past. The beach is beautiful, but the best time to go is when it gets to... More
