Start at other end and walk toward lake about 2.5 miles. We didn’t think much of the Lake area but the hike starts or ends near the entrance station to the left. Pickup maps at visitor center first as north starting point isn’t well marked.

Odd 'park' around a man made reservoir, lots of gravel and asphalt, nothing to do. Webpage sounds like you can access mountain trails but we couldn't work this out as it is fenced in

This cute spot is great for camping, fishing in the lake and for all around views of the valley. It is also where the American Canal that winds its way throughout the desert and Imperial Valley ends it's journey. You can also hike from Lake...More

We camped at Lake Cahuilla for a week in March. During the week it was quiet except for the constant firing range shooting (sounded like cannons, maybe reverberating off mts). On the weekend it was very crowded with loud music late into the evening and...More

The trails are well maintained and make walking easy though proper shoes are recommended. The level is between easy and moderate depending on the route chosen. Trails are well marked. The view out over the valley is great and the rock formations are well worth...More

We hiked this recreation area with our dog and it was lovely scenery, but we should have started more like 7 am until 9 am because even in December, the sun beat down on us hard and the dog pooped out before we finished. There's...More

It was just a short drive from our hotel and it really amazed us. This a fee-only place for recreational activities. Even for spending few minutes in the beach is worthy. This is a fresh water ancient lake which has reduced to just 125 acres...More

Although the scenery is gorgeous, the ground is too hard to drive a stake to secure a tent. Plus, it can get extremely windy by the lake so the tent is very unstable. Overall, not my best camping experience.
