Birch Aquarium at Scripps is the public exploration center for the world-renowned Scripps Institution of Oceanography at UC San Diego. Perched on a bluff overlooking the Pacific Ocean, the aquarium features more than 60 habitats of fishes and invertebrates from the cold waters of the Pacific Northwest to the tropical waters of Mexico and the Caribbean. Love this place. Even though it’s not as big as say Monterrey it’s just a gorgeous location FILLED with things for young kids to learn about aquatic life. Definitely a must see for young families.

Both my teenage girls had a great time at the aquarium. The staff was very knowledge and gave the great recommendations for snorkeling in the area.

A small facility but definitely worth a visit if you are at all interested in marine science. Be prepared for an amazing view of the Pacific!

I try to visit Birch Aquarium at least twice a year. They have new things going on and there are so many beautiful tanks to see. Plus the large center tank has changing shows that are educational as well as entertaining!

Visiting La Jolla, we went to see theSea Horses. A wonderful aquarium for all ages, lots of hands on things for kids. Highly recommend.
