Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

This course is extremely expensive. I am from Arizona where there’s an abundance of golf courses to choose from but of course none that have this kind of view. Having said that $250 a round is a bit much at least for me. However, it is an extremely beautiful course both the north and the south which we have played both now. Don’t tee off too early or you could miss the views altogether. Luckily we teed off around 1130 and clouds were burning off by about 130. Both times golfing here they were growing out the rough for a tournament. The rough is extremely difficult to hit out of even for a 10 handicap.

Torrey Pines is a bucket list course for most golfers. The history here is palpable. You can almost still hear the roar of the crowd when Tiger sank that birdie putt on #18 in the 2008 U.S Open to force a playoff with Rocco. Of course that happened on the more famous and much more difficult South Course. Personally I preferred the North Course. It is more player friendly with majestic views at half the price.

Pitiful conditions considering. Not a resident card holder anymore so I'm happy I didn't have to pay the outrageous green fees thanks to a customer that wanted my guildance and experience. Been playing here for over 30 years and have never seen so many bad spots on this course since they redesigned it, again. No wonder the USGA said it will never return. 5 hours and 50 minutes to play golf is no fun either. It is time the city allowed a professional company to manage this course instead of the unprofessional types there now.

Played south course last year with two buddies and I could not have been more disappointed. There are four or five good holes along the coast, the rest, any municipal in America. Add to the experience it cost over $700.00 for three players and the staff were the rudest, most unprofessional and inconsiderate as I have ever experienced and I have been in the golf business 30 years. I will never play here again. Several holes were unplayable due to construction and they had the gall to tell us we received a discount. I have played some of the best courses in the world, don't waste your money here. It may have been a great track years ago. For the cost, it's nothing special.

Playing Torrey was the highlight of my week in San Diego. Playing it so soon after the U.S. Open, the rough was still plenty thick and the greens were an unreal fast. The course was difficult, but the views and the overall experience were so worth it. I rented clubs and was very pleased at the selection. They offer stiff (steel) or regular (graphite) flexes and I had choice between Titleist T100, 200 or 300 irons in either flex. The set also came with TS2 Driver, 3wood, and hybrid, as well as 52, 56 degree vokey wedges and an older Scotty Cameron putter. The staff member checking golfers in for their tee times was extremely friendly, but the people behind the other retail counter were surprisingly unfriendly. The golf shop had an absurd amount of merch, and the lunch at the turn was also great. Also, they accommodate non-golfing riders as my wife was tagging along. If you're out in San Diego, Torrey is a must play!

I wanted to play Torrey for a while and a tiny window of opportunity presented - it was absolute worth it! I got to play the South course. The views on each hole, particularly the front nine, are just breathtaking. I couldn’t bring my clubs, but the rentals were really nice. Not an easy course, but still an amazing time!! If you’re a golfer and get the chance, take it!! See more with Eat, Drink, and Go!!

Besides being an ultimate golf destination, kudos to Annie and Gen in the office for making the renewal of a resident's card easy and stressless. We had tried to renew online ourselves, but we were frustrated and were unable to do so. We went to the main Torrey Pines office and these two ladies turned it into a delightful experience making Torrey Pines Golf the complete package!

First off if you’re planning to be a spectator and walk you can’t, they won’t allow it. You’ll have to pay the outrageous cart fee for a very poor looking cart. They are old and worn down no gps or screen of any kind. Seats are worn and uncomfortable. The people who work here are rude to everyone it seemed. The starter (very rude and unprofessional) at the tee told us last minute that all spectators have to be cart. Mind you we walked up to the tee time 10 minutes prior. Overall we had very high expectations for this course. Only positive feedback about this course was the views were beautiful. Overpriced especially for the horrible looking carts. Go to another beautiful and actually get the service you pay for.

Course and views were amazing. Hospitality was sad to say the least. I got there early to play and asked multiple members where I needed to pay for my round of golf. No one answered or directed to me where to go (I asked mulutiple times). Then I went and paid for my rental clubs and golf cart, while purchasing other items from the golf shop. Before heading out to the driving range, I went and asked the starter if I was good to go and he replied with a sure “yes”. So I figured my round was going to get paid from my booking fee that I put my cc on. Next thing I know I am showing up to the starter after hitting up the driving range and they tried to tell me that I was trying to play free golf while multiple workers were taking bad about me and my wife. They were extremely rude to my wife and then the manager came out to patronize me as well before my tee time. It completely ruined the start of my day and ruined my wife’s day as they made sure to try to embarrass her in the clubhouse as I was with the starter. Thank you so much for your class as we came from LOUISIANA to just play and enjoy the course while spending easily over $1000 that day for our round of golf, gear, food, and drinks.

Any golfer who finds himself or herself in the area will be charmed by Torrey Pines. We visited simply to be able to describe it to golfers among our families and friends. There’s a world of difference between watching a tournament on TV and experiencing this place as the natural wonder that it is.
