Was there to take photos of the plum blossoms

Was there to take photos of the plum blossoms and the flowers were so pretty. Me and friend went to Dazaifu by local train and it was not difficult.

Went to Dazaifu as a day trip from Fukuoka. The travel is easy enough and the subway pass we had works for the trains as well. Train from Nishitetsu Tenjin station to Dazaifu, we managed to get a direct train (limited express). Takes about 30 min from Tenjin. On exiting the train station, the main shopping street (Ometosando) is to... More

This place is like Asakusa Temple in Tokyo, busy and bustling with tourists and souvenir stalls. Best seller is that hot mochi everyone is so crazy about they really get in line just to buy and taste it. Accessible by bus which runs on intervals.

If you have extra time to go on a day tour outside Fukuoka, this is it! The other recommended place is Yanagawa, which is further away from the city, is underwhelming. Dazaifu is worth it, by a mile. The place oozes with so much excitement right at the foot of the street leading to the shrine. Must-do here is to... More

I loved the way to the shrine through the local town where you can try the famous rice cakes with sweet bean filling. The shrine grounds are full of cherry blossom trees that were spectacular at this time of the year though not in full bloom yet. There are lots of Japanese, many from Fukuoka, some wearing the traditional kimono... More

The Tenmagu shrine is a beautiful place with a lot to see, and despite receiving a lot of visitors does rarely feel crowded as it is quite large. Definitely worth seeing, particularly in the spring for the blossoming plum trees.

A superb shinto shrine in Dazaifu. It must be one of the greatest religious sites in Japan. Beautiful Japanese gardens, ponds, little bridges, museums, shrines, temples. A great experience. All beautifully maintained. You won't be disappointed! Try to visit before the tour buses arrive or after they have left.

CYC + G This shrine worship God of study, so many people prayed for their child or themselves. The statue of big bull was located in there. The horn of bull statue ran down and had different color with body because many people believe that if they rub horn of bull statue, can more learn nicely. The atmosphere was good... More

We visited on a day when the weather was terrible, but anyway enjoyed Dazaifu. Access is easy via the Tenjin station, but requires one additional connection at Fukuaichi station. Total traveling time from Hakata is about 40 minutes including walking between stations and waiting for the next train. Upon exiting the train at Dazaifu, a shopping alley with very cool... More
