Nice view

I arrived at Kameoka by the Scenic Train and took the JR local train back to Saga; I made a brief stop at Hozuki Gorge and the view was pretty.

If you are in the Kyoto City area, and looking for a location for a nice stroll, then I suggest the Hozukyo Gorge. To access the site take the J.R. Train, from Kyoto Station (the Sanin Line, track-32) to Hozukyo Station. Then stroll to Arashiyama via route-50. It's a nice walk with lots of stops along the way to admire... More

This is the last "covered" spot if you are using the JR West pass. The views are breathtaking, from the moment you get off the train. It seems like you can take a boat ride but we could not figure out where the ride starts. We were also slightly lost about the availability of bus to take us around the... More

It's always a good way to enjoy beauty of Japan with different way by the Hozu gorge cruising. Hozu gorge cruising is done by small boat with two boatmen.

Hozugawa station is the last one in the validity region of the JR Kansai Area pass, and the valley is worth the trip after all the hussle and bussle you may have encountered in Kyoto. But contrary to the opinion of somebody in this forum there IS a barriere at the station`s entrance, and during our visit there HAS been... More

A place you can easily travel with JR line. Stop in Hozukyo, then get off the track and there you go, serene and beautiful gorge. It will probably take approx. 15-20 minutes to visit this beautiful place.

Hozukyo is really a place that you must visit if you are going to Kyoto. In my opinion it is like an undiscovered pearl! It's located west of Arashiyama, and I like going there by the JR railway line. JR Hozukyo Station is a station without any staff, so you can go out without paying anything, and then the beautiful...
