- zirconium11Singapore, Singapore677 contributionsWinter Wonderland (onsen completes it!)We had a 3D2N stay in this sleepy town although many others had merely a day trip. The hotel staff have been properly trained and provided excellent service quality throughout our stay. The room was well upkept, and even we booked a smaller sized room, it is actually enough for 3-4 pax, with extra futon in the closet. The food variety at buffet breakfast and dinner was splendid, and guests were spoilt for choice. Unfortunately the dispenser for plain water was spoilt and we were unable to drink some plain water, amidst all the sweetened drinks and caffeine. We stayed at the West building which was located above the Great Bath (大浴场) which is rather convenient, but could be a little walking distance from the dining hall. The escalator leading from lobby to west building was damaged since 5th Oct and could be a slight challenge for those who need help with heavy luggage or walking, although there is a fire lift next to it, but with limited capacity. The restaurant on level 5 is a must-try at affordable prices, with service that make you feel like a king (or queen)! Must book early for dinner reservation to avoid disappointment. Our check out was a little dismal, as we had booked a taxi to bring us and our heavy luggage to JR station to make our way to Hakodate. The desk staff had overlooked our booking and we had to rebook our transport! As our train was scheduled to depart at 1058hrs, we nervously looked at our watches while waiting for our taxi to arrive. Alas, no taxis came even at 1025hrs, but a staff dressed in blazer, name 深田,volunteered to drive us personally to the station and we made it to the station in time! All in all, the hotel is highly recommended for people who wish to take it slow and relax, with onsen readily available and the walk to the nearby Hell’s Valley.Visited November 2023Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 November 2023
- aubrey kSingapore99 contributionsThe Only Place you should stay in Noboribetsu!Best Hotel Location you can find in Noboribetsu! It’s located at the Top of the mountain with a great view of the Hell’s Valley! 3 mins walk to the Hell’s Valley entrance and 4 mins walk to the foot of the Bear Park Ropeway. Just 2 shops away from the hotel, you get to enjoy very delicious and value Japanese fresh seafood served as sashimi or grilled. If you get to be served by Hotel staff Hegde Prawjal (an Indian young man who speaks good Japanese and English), you are in luck! He gave us a great introduction of the hotel facilities, and the places of interest and food you can go to in Noboribetsu. We stayed 2 nights and we love the ryokan moods, the Yukata is nice and comfortable, the room is clean and the thick comforter on our futon beds are amazingly comfortable. Breakfast selection is impressive! Onsen is great with many springs and an outdoor onsen bath available. The Horse Oil shampoo set given freely for guests use are a steal! They really serve premium products to their guests. We will give this Hotel a 5 Star!! Well done Takimotokan!Visited December 2023Travelled with familyWritten 20 December 2023
- MissMichaSydney, Australia82 contributionsGiganticThis place is a huge complex complete with various dining outlets, a food/souvenir shop, amusement/arcade area in addition to all the usual onset resort facilities. It seemed very child friendly and popular with families. The buffet dinner and breakfast both had a large number of options and we had no problem securing a table as the complex was so big. However because this place houses so many guests, it would be prudent to plan your transfers to and from the hotel accordingly. It is about a 10 minute walk to the bus terminal where there are more buses to the local JR station but if you want a bus or taxi from the hotel itself, these are much fewer in number and frequency.Visited January 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 16 January 2024
- Tedar200141 contributionsPremium onsen experience in a large hotel that caters to families and groupsVery large hotel with a variety of rooms that attracts groups and families. This definitely is not a ryokan in terms of atmosphere or service. But what you do get is the largest indoor and outdoor onsen with 35 different baths that overlooks the volcanic Hell’s Valley. No other hotel or baths have these views. And if you pay for the premium onsen suites in the west building that just opened a year or two ago you get a large room with two beds, sofa, fireplace and mini bar overlooking Hell’s Valley and a outdoor private onsen bath with spectacular view of the valley. This room is top notch in facilities and amenities. Dinner and breakfast for these rooms are served in the Kaiseki restaurant which for this large hotel means semi private rooms with call button service. Still, the food was delicious varied and fresh that featured Hokkaido seafood. We would have preferred a smaller ryokan with better service but we cannot fault our room the food and the large onsen experience. So if you come here with those forewarnings and want a modern fireplace room with a view and private onsen and the large onsen experience you’ll have a great time like we did.Visited February 2024Travelled with friendsWritten 4 February 2024
- planttravelGold Coast, Australia318 contributionsExcellent onsen hotelWe stayed two nights and thoroughly enjoyed this old outdated hotel. Buffet was well done, with plenty of options. Rooms were typical of a ryokan, and were comfortable, unless you don’t like sleeping on the futons. Now the onsen experience was on another level. I rate it one of the best, and had so much choice of pools. I love the outdoor baths the most. Great stay!Visited April 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 1 May 2024
- luxtraveller88203 contributionsVery good, better than expectedGood location in the centre of the village. Friendly helpful staff with reasonable level of English. Clean, comfortable, spacious, very nicely decorated and well equipped room. Free parking though across the road. Great onsens on site. We had a western style room and saw reviews indicating they were a bit dated but this was absolutely not our experience, I think there has been good renovation. The hotel is very large and busy but it works. We took a package including kaiseki breakfast and dinner which was well worth it. We would definitely stay here again.Visited June 2024Travelled as a coupleWritten 29 June 2024
- Linda LLeander, Texas353 contributionsMust visit the best hot springsOur family, including grandma, came here last month. She loves the hot springs. We went to the hot springs every day. Here, they offer a Western and Japanese-style buffet, so my daughter (who doesn't eat raw fish) can also eat with us. Outside the hotel, there were some local restaurants as well. I can tell this hotel owned some of the best hot springs in Japan.Visited July 2024Travelled with familyWritten 11 August 2024

this hotel is ridiculous. worst service I have seen in Japan. i'm here right now. no matter what temperature I set, the air con can only be either on or off and it will not stop at the set temperature. it shows the room temp is 31 degree!! the room gets so hot. the only guy available is 片XYZ. his English is so limited. thru translator he said in winter the air con only has warm air out and cannot be adjuested. it is just how it works and not faulty. all the rooms are the same. he refused to offer any help. asked me to turn off the air con and if gets too cold just ask for extra blanket. it is minus 4 degree outside!! when I asked him 'can U set Ur ac in your house at 18 degree' and he said yes. so why cant this hotel do it? worse, he opened the windows to cool the room down, after my half hour convo with him, the whole room smells like rotten egg. it is an onsen area full of sulphur. how can someone has no common sense and knowledge about the area works in a hotel like yhis. what I need is a hotel offers a comfortable room. that should be the bottom line of any hotel, let alone this one so called the best in town.
also there is an alarm hidden in the wardrobe ringing at 6am in the morning. the humidifier water tank doesn't get refilled. very unhappy. going to complain all the way up. this is not a japanses service. so disapointed. where is おもてなし)? what a shame!

We went as family of 6 with wheelchair. Took the accessible room that fits us all. 4 on futon and 2 on bed. It's a definite accessible room for wheelchair in room, toilet, bath and door. It's the best. Room is new. No issue to go around the large establishment. Wheelchair prepared for the bath area too. Could wheel to grand area and still need to step out to go into the onsen area. Very much appreciated as the area is big and walking on wet floor is not easy. Yukata for many type of sizes incl children is so much appreciated. There is a pool and slide at the basement of the onsen. This is separate entrance for male and female but in the swimming pool it's together. Outside the pool it's a jacuzzi.. Great for couple.. Buffet quality is excellent. Best we had...

This is a long-established inn located closest to Jigokudani in Noboribetsu Onsen. I stayed here for a day trip. The large public bath is located directly in front of Noboribetsu Jigokudani, and the view is spectacular. There are five baths with different spring qualities, so you can bathe in the bath of your choice. The open-air bath is also wonderful. The Kinzo-no-yu and the sulfur spring in the open-air bath were especially good. The bath fee is 2,250 yen.

I did not stay at the hotel, opting instead to purchase a day pass to access the onsen (traditional Japanese bath) facilities. Though the hostess at the entrance spoke very little English, she had a paper with instructions in English for us. With only a few missteps, we made our way to the locker room, got our towels, removed our clothes and headed into the bath area. (Segregated by gender.)
There are several different soaking pools, none much deeper than two feet. One was significantly hotter than the others, but it wasn't scalding. Each of the pools has its own chemical makeup - some sulfur, some sodium, etc. A huge window provides a lovely view up "Hell Valley," where you can watch the steam billowing out of fumaroles.
There are also three outside pools, which we found much more pleasant than those inside.
The ramen restaurant in the hotel was sadly, only average.

How do I reserve day-passes?
Also, how does the private halls work? Do I need to reserve ahead of time or when I get there?

Is JPY2000 the only cost we need to pay to enjoy the onsen ? do we have to hire the tower from them ?
Does it have a separate area / room for woman only ?
Does it suitable for kids ?
Written 28 July 2015
-It is 2000yen per adult and 1000yen per child over 3yrs old.
-The price includes towel loan.
-It is completely separate for males and females since bathing is in the nude. But there is also a swimming pool area where it is mixed and you have to wear bathing suits.
-Yes it is suitable for kids, but you are responsible for their supervision in the pools.
