Inuyama Jokamachi is the old town street in town center and leads to the foot steps of the Inuyama Castle. This is about a walking distance of 15 minutes from the Inuyama station. There are many historic buildings on both sides of the street with...More

I was here during the Inuyama Festival (a must see event) and besides the normal shops and small restaurants, the streets and side parking lots were filled with food and other stands making for a festive time, strolling through the nicely preserved old Japanese buildings.

Me and friend decided to spend half a day in Inuyama and Jokamachi was one of the must see. Cute shopping street with shops and cafes leading all the way to the castle.

Not sure if its still too close to the Japan new year (visited on 19th Jan) many shops were closed and places to visit were closed too.

As the main thoroughfare so to speak in Inuyama, its quite a let down. Many shops were not open, restaurants few with hardly any dining options. Shoppers would likely fine this place sparse and lacks offerings. Hardly spent 20-30min walking up and down the street...More

The town seems the typical one of old Japanese towns that were developed along Castles of Daimyo. There are many shops, and most of them are old Japanese styled. It seems the city and citizens there manage the town to maintain that mood.
