Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Everything is in Chinese and even if explained, it does not look that interesting. The boutique in front of it does not do sampling at all, you have to buy samples! And they don't speak a word of English or have a brochure for non-Chinese tourists,

Well after seeing all the lumps of beef on the street in Pingyao you have to wonder what it's all about - the museum will help a little but not much as everything's in Chinese so you kind of need to guess a bit.

Pingyao is famous for its corn beef and this is the place to get it. Not cheap. They also offer some small free samples where you can try at the end of museum visit.
Museum is self-guided.
30 minutes is good enough.
If you want to shop some beef, 60 minutes.
When you are in Pingyao, you must visit this place to learn about its corn beef.

The point of the museum is to sell you pingyao beef but there are some interesting exhibits (Chinese only) about the history of beef in Pingyao. The building itself was also a nice historical building. If you've never been to a museum about beef go to this and then you can say you have been to a beef museum. Just be aware when you exit from the exhibits you will be in a shop with lots of beef options to buy. It appeared that some people working there could speak English.
