I am a sucker for looking at old prison conditions. This is only a small part of this attraction, but worth a look. I particularly enjoyed the display of torture tools they show you. Much of the rest is looking at offices, which is okay.

The complex is big and and it gives one a very good view of how the government ruled in ancient times. Everything is logical situated. I partically enjoyed the public bathrooms and the squares, where you can sit and relax a bit.

Mickey preserved but a little bit crowded. Interesting to see how they use to run things. Make sure you go see the prison or jail.

The former gov office on Yamen St is originally built in 1346, completed with bells and whistles, and a karaoke, prison and residence as well.

Fairly interesting compound. Has your old court rooms and jail, complete with examples of gruesome sentences of punishment. Certainly different from your temple fare ... Best with a guide - to get the most out of what your seeing and how it all worked back...More

I would rate this as one of the top 3 things to see in Pingyao included in the 3 day ticket. I've been many places in China and haven't see something like this before. It's a huge complex where you can see things like the...More

The Pingyao Ancient Government Office is fascinating with a guide. So if you plan a visit, think of getting yourself one. Without the Chinese language it could end up being relatively less engaging. The place gives an insight into the judicial system in semi-feudal China....More
