Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

The journey to the waterfall was suggested as a day trip by a beach vendor and her sister whom I had come to know. Great suggestion too. The trip was by tuk tuk and took 30-40 minutes at a cost of $30.00. The last part of the tuk tuk ride was on a long, bumpy, dusty dirt road so be prepared for that. The waterfall park was large and had different sections where visitors and families could relax while enjoying the picnic they brought or instead having a large meal prepared for them while there. There were many little covered pavilions with hammocks where visitors could set up and relax. The stream that provides the waterfall was at a low level in March but still provided enough for swimming and recreation. The waterfall was not exceptional but still provided much fun as visitors could go under them for play. I thought the area was scenic too with its hills and paths that had scenic vistas of the falls. There are many vendors there too so you can browse local crafts and purchase drinks, snacks and such. My trip to the waterfall was a highlight excursion during my stay in Sihanoukville. Being there with local residents and their children made it more so.

Good atmosphere and beautiful outdoor space to do photography. Water could be dried out when hot season.

We were at the waterfalls in late January. The road to the waterfalls was pretty dusty, but there was a fair amount of water running through the falls. There is a bit of rubbish around, but overall the waterfalls are nice. The covered areas with hammocks are a really cool place to relax and have a drink. We thought it was well worth the trip.

Terrible place to visit. That too upon paying a fee. We were thirsty by the time we got here. So was the water-fall so much so that all the water fell before getting here. Do not visit

the place is full of garbage left by khmer holidaymakers. The road is bad and you risk a flat tire going there. If you're lucky enough not to have your tires punctured on the way, the guy at the small repairing stall near the parking place will flatten your tire while you are away to get a couple of bucks from you . The waterfalls are nothing special. They are not worth the trip.

People bobbing around in fetid pools filled with mounds of rubbish. The surrounding jungle has been burnt down, and the road has been devastated (HUGE pot holes). The only reason I would go here would be to support the poor locals selling their fares - as they seemed to be really struggling to scratch a living here. Filled with people throwing their rubbish around, and listening to very loud competing sound systems. Such a disappointment. We had been here 12+ years ago, and it was beautiful then. The only good that came out of it is that my whole family have become anti-plastic crusaders as a result of the visit!

My friend and I visited Kbal Chhay Starting in Otres 2 mid January 2018. The roads are ‘breed’ . Be careful and pay enough attention on the road (dirt roads, holes, trucks). After 30 minutes you arrive at the waterfalls. It is worth a visit, even in the dry season. In the small village, at the waterfalls you can continue your road by bike: cross the bridge (yes you can do that with your scooter), go straight on for 100 meters and turn to the left behind the toilets. This road will bring you in 20 minutes to the main road from Sihanoukville to Stung Hav. Drive slow. You can stop at 2 view points on your left. View points are overlooking the big lake (there is even een kite surf beach - look for the sign) or look on maps.me. We continued our way to a local fisher village Stung Hav (16km from Sihanoukville). Check it out to see another real Cambodja: building/repairing the turquoise fisher ships, see the unloading and selling of the fresh fish, stroll along the small village. It looked to me that they aren’t really used to tourists, so be polite, dress properly, ask permission to take pictures, and say ‘hello’ to the many kids that wave at you. We returned via Sihanouk village. Via this road, you will see the suburbs and de port - interesting.
See my map of the itinerary in annex > made with maps.me - thé travel app for hikers (it often shows the smaller tracks that you can’t find on Google Maps).
Costs: Motorbike: $5 dollar per scooter for 24hours. Entrance to area Kbal Chhay: $1. Food (nice dish + Cola @ Stung Hav): $2

20-25 min from Otres beach resort where we stayed. Tuk-Tuk charged $25 to pick us from our hotel and drop us back. He waited for us for about 3 hours. It's an amazing place to spend half a day and get drenched in the waterfalls.

We went to this place during dry season, so there was basically no water! What you're sure to find all year long however is garbage. To say this place is filthy is an understatement! Nothing extraordinary to see, not really a lot of locals around and long bumpy trip from sihanoukville. You're better off staying on the beach.

Bonjour,
