About
Deerfield Ranch Winery, in Kenwood, the heart of Sonoma Valley, is an award winning, certified organic producer, winery crafting 15,000 cases annually. Robert Rex, associate winemaker Cecilia Valdivia, and their team make small lots of handcrafted wine from more than 26 carefully selected vineyards in Sonoma County. Deerfield produces Clean Wine®, wines low in sulfites and low in histamines; the two common aspects of wine that cause allergic reactions. Specializing in blended wines, Deerfield is at the forefront of this modern yet traditionally based style and on the cutting edge of California winemaking techniques. Deerfield wines are renowned for their brilliant colors, rich and wonderfully complex flavors and a long finish. They tend to be fruit forward, with gentle tannins and low acid. The wines are crafted to appeal to the new, younger wine drinker while exhibiting complexity and depth that a studied wine geek or connoisseur will recognize and enjoy. Wine tasting $20 per person.

Deerfield Ranch had the best Zinfandel by far of all our tastings! We got to try what we wanted, and not a set list. I do not like most whites, so only wanted to taste the reds. Both Cabs we tasted were excellent, as well as the Merlot and the Blend. This was the only winery club we joined from the 9 we visited in the week we were there.
Remember to bring a jacket because it is chilly in the cave.

We came here as part of a tour. As compared to other wineries I will say their cave system is quite extensive and made for great pictures. They have tables in the caves and we ate lunch there as a group (brought it with us). The host we had was quite low key and we thought the wines were unremarkable. Perhaps we came on an off day, but I would only come if you had time and wanted to see the caves.

We toured this winery as part of a winery tour...I wasn't too impressed... While the cave was nice and we did eat lunch in there, I felt the host spent way too much time in between each tasting and had no personality at all..

We had Holly as our wine presenter. She was just wonderful. We got to meet P.J and learn more about their wines. We had such a good time that we decided to become members and we look forward to returning. This was our second visit to Deerfield and didn't disappoint in any fashion. Good quality wines and priced right.

Jamie from Priority Wine Pass recommended Deerfield Ranch Winery. We used our priority wine pass for a two for one tasting. This is a rather unique winery as the wine process is designed to remove histamines from the wine. Histamines can cause problems for those who are hypoallergenic (have allergy problems). The wine tasting is held in a cave. You are permitted to walk around the cave and look at the wines in their different oak barrels. Our host was very knowledgeable and very informative. Both couples enjoyed our visit here and recommend a wine tasting here.

Fabulous wines and great staff. Our introduction was at a comedy performance held on the crushpad last weekend. The show was great made even better with the wine! We had Syrah, Pinot, Sauv Blanc and bought a bottle of Port. Highly recommend!

Had a great experience with the winery prior to arriving, they accommodated our large group and gave great suggestions about other local spots in the area.
Unfortunately after arriving definitely didn't have the same experience. I had never been here before, and asked if there was a space for us to eat lunch and was told there were some picnic benches outside that would be reserved. The winery is very industrial outside of the cave area, and the picnic benches just weren't a place I would want to hang out, more of a smoking zone and where the limo drivers were taking a break. It was pretty hot outisde and I wasn't expecting to be allowed to eat inside, as I had seen on the website there wasn't food allowed in the cave on the weekends. Our group asked if they would mind because it wasn't too busy and we were fortunate enough to eat inside, but you could tell once we did, that our server was not exactly thrilled. She didn't really come up to us at all, to begin with until we asked to be served wine. She then continued to talk to us about her other table and how rowdy they were being and they kept asking her to pour more, which she eluded to she had. When I asked for the same treatment, she ignored me and walked away.

Honestly just felt we were not the clients she wanted to serve and in turn, we left shortly after completing our tasting. It was unfortunate because this was a specific place other members of our group wanted to come back to after a good experience in the past.

We went for a tasting in April 2022. We are not huge wine drinkers but we were staying nearby and thought we'd give it a try. I purchased a Groupon and the gentleman said that they weren't offering that particular tasting anymore but he would oblige us anyway, which was very nice. We had a very nice tasting. The wine was great. It is lower in histamines than other wines. I was curious to see how this would effect me as I tend to react to a lot of things. I was very non reactive which made the wine even more enjoyable. Our host was very nice and easy going. We had a good chat with him and then the Owner came in with his dog, Obi Wine Kanobi! Cute pooch and we got to give him some treats and have a chat with the owner. After our tasting we checked out the art work and really enjoyed it. Don't miss this stop.

Enjoy your tasting experience in a cave with great seating options - bar, farmhouse tables, high tops, chairs, and couches. Experience “clean” wine. Great tasting without all the sulfides and other additives. We especially loved the merlot. Our host was knowledgeable and allowed us to pace ourselves.

This is a unique winery with an Old World feel. It's very much like a step back in time to Elizabethan era. The winery and tasting area is beautifully designed around a tunnel of caves. Great wine and an overall fun experience.
