Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Quaint winery and very nice owners. Enjoyed the $5 four flight tasting. Alot of th wine is not grown there. I liked their refreshing Chardonary made from grapes they bring in from another valley. We just missed their annual wine stomping fest which would have been a great treat.

Two of my friends and I visited Menghini Winery together. One of my friends decided to do the wine tasting and really enjoyed the wines. There was one wine that she didn't like because she said it was too sweet. I am not by any means a judge or expert in anyway with wine because I rarely drink alcohol and don't particularly care for wine. I asked to taste the one that she said was too sweet. It was Fools Gold. It was the most delicious wine I have ever had and I actually bought a bottle. This shocked my other friend (she knows I don't care for wine) so much that she asked to taste Fools Gold also. She thought it was so delicious that she also bought a bottle. When we all returned to our hotel and my husband found out I bought a bottle of wine, he was shocked too. When he tasted it he understood why I had bought it. If you like light fruity dessert wine this would definitely be the one to try. 5 Stars from me. :)

The wine was okay, the whites were better than the reds. The Pinot Grigio (2013) was our favorite of the lot. They were out of a few, including the Cab. The location and gentleman working the tasting room were very nice.

Very nice wines here - they do outsource many of their grapes. Their dessert wine in particular is quite good. If you're into wine and came to Julian for some apple pie, you're missing out if you don't stop here. Friendly atmosphere, reasonable prices, and good wine - the trifecta.

After the HORRIBLE service we had at Witch Creek, we were not sure about this place. But, they were very friendly, and quickly made us forget the bad service we had received. at the other winery
This place was like a blast of fresh air. Super nice, and super informative, they actually talked about their wines, and talked to everyone that came into the winery. This place gets an A++++++ for service.

My wife and I went to the Menghini Winery today in Julian and enjoyed some wine tastings and visiting with Toni Menghini one of the owners of the winery. This winery is located just outside the town of Julian on a windy road. It is located near the Volcan Apple Valley Farm Winery. Wine tasting used to be $5.00 and is now $10.00 or by the glass cost $7.00.The Chardonnay, Sauvignon Blanc and Apple wines were very good. If you buy a bottle of wine you can take your wine on the back patio. There you will find a water fountain on the wall, small patio tables and chairs. They have resident Dog, and a 26 year old cat that greet you and make you feel right at home.

We love wine and have been all over California.

That said, this is a real find outside of Solvang area wineries for Southern California.

We were really surprised by both reds and whites and enjoyed everything about our experience. The tastings are in galvanized steel barn and offered out of steel tubs with ice.

The people are great and affable and we bought 6 bottles, and gave 2 to our bed and breakfast hosts.

We strongly recommend it.

Don't let the title throw you. I really enjoyed our visit to this winery. Of course, I enjoy visits to just about ANY winery. We got five tastings per person for five dollars per person. All of the wines we tasted were delightful, but our favorite was the Petit Syrah and we bought a bottle of that to bring home. The winery is an operating winery and there are huge stainless steel vats inside full of various varietals either fermenting or aging. While they own their own vineyards, most of their grapes are sourced from other vineyards. Certainly nothing wrong with that as long as the product is good.

The building that houses the winery and the tasting room is, well, rustic. We can even call it rustic and charming. There are a bunch of things for purchase and some artifacts to examine. And yes, there was indeed a pile of fresh dog poop right in the middle of the floor. As charming as the doggie is, THAT was less than charming. While I think it is great that the pups have the run of the winery, that is an issue that should have received immediate attention.

Although I did not have time to check it out, I understand there is an area behind the winery where you can enjoy a picnic. One couple who had obviously been there before came in, bought a bottle, took it to the picnic area and had their little picnic.

Enjoy your visit, but be careful where you step!

The Menghini winery is a full on winery, big vats and small vats, and tasting, and a delightful staff (sometimes the owners). the wines are good, fresh and young (no oak I think) and quite popular..
