If your into a little fishing or spending the day out on a boat, Which you can rent, Or having a picnic on the shore or picnic area, This is a great day for you and your family. My favorite thing to do is bringing my grandchildren here to feed the ducks and geese. A very pleasant day outing.

I went camping with friends at Heise Park, then we went to Lake Cuyamaca to hike. Part of our group went fishing, others ate at the restaurant and my group hiked around the Lake.

Wonderful "easy" hike walk, be wary of mosquitoes here and there, lots of little trails (which you can see on map we pulled up on phone), lead to Cuyamaca Mine. Saw wild turkey, deer, hawks, condors, magpies, meadows, oaks, pines; peaceful. Incredible. Will return!

Busy weekend but the place quiets down for the most part after 9. Lots of kids, and families in the tent sites. Views from rv sites are limited unless you are lucky and choose the right site.

Hiked around Lake Cuyamaca this past weekend, was surprised at the great variety of water birds. Saw Canadian geese, grebes, blue herons, egrets, orioles and other typical marsh birds. We got off trail several times due to lack of signage, but this wasn't critical, we were able to get back on trail fairly easily. Very pleasant hike, mostly level and... More

This is a small, scenic lake right alongside CA79 south of Julian. We stopped by while doing a scenic drive on a chilly, rainy day in May. Since the weather was poor, there weren't many folks around and it was quiet, but I expect that in the summer it is very busy with campers and hikers trying to escape the... More

This is a very nice day trip to get out of the city and have lots of choices, places to stop on the way here, and once you get here. It is a nice drive either up the Sunrise Hwy or up Highway 79. Lots of view points, info centers or hiking trails off of either of those routes. I... More
