Beautiful hike on the South Ridge Trail to Tahquitz Peak in Idyllwild!! The last mile of the road to the trailhead is unpaved. It's not too bad though since my Corolla was able to crawl to the parking lot (note "crawl" though....). You will need to get a free permit at the ranger station for this hike. This trail definitely... More

This is truly an amazing place. To simply imagine the force of nature to have created the mountains and rock formations, stuns. An incredible place to visit, and very different at different times of the year.

Hiked the Fuller Ridge Trail to Mt San Jacinto. Awesome views, wonderful experience! Camped at a yellow post site the night before (free campsite). This is an all day hike , 15 miles RT.

I enjoy the outdoors but I'm more of a city slicker, however, wanting an adventure with my 14 year old son we rented outdoor gear and took the tram into this beautiful wilderness, just two hours from home. Once you depart from the tram station and check in at the ranger station (camping permit in advance), there is NO water.... More

Campgrounds for pretty clean the bathrooms were very clean thank God the only problem I had is it rained the whole night and had three more days of rain so we ended up only staying one night instead of the three that we had paid for. But I definitely would visit this place again but I'll wait till the bugs... More

This is simply a MUST SEE when in the Palm Springs area. It can be accessed by the Palm Springs Tramway or via hiking on up the backside from Humber Park in Idyllwild. The latter needless to say is highly strenuous, but there are many different levels and distances of hikes. All in all this park highlights a cool green... More

Fantastic scenery! Great hiking trail. Lots of people when we visited, but not too crowded. Ample parking, but get their early.

We did this hike on May 29, 2016. We hiked from Marion Mt Campground at about 6,230 ft to the peak at 10,834 ft. Being lazy, we took off from San Diego late, at 8 am, and returned by 10pm after a dinner in Idyllwild. The weather was excellent for hiking. The trail feels longer than the claimed 11.3 mile... A lot of fun using aerial tramway up & down. great restaurant with views on a top. Nice trails to walk and enjoy the nature, birds and fresh air.. Great places to sit above with the Coachella valley and admire the views. 40 degrees difference in temperature compare with Palm Springs down there.

We started at around 10am with good boots and weather gear. DO NOT go into these trails without good hiking boots and water. The Deer Trail is a good one and is about 3.3 miles to the top. We decided to come back down and made the circle by 12 noon. Easy to mederate and no scaling. Great views of... More
