Wife and I took 3 hr "kayak" inflatable down the river. It was fun and enjoyable on the lazy river. Just enough shade to get you out of the sun every once in awhile. Most fun part was watching the 2 dozen trout hang out under one of the trees we stopped at along the way. The company was good... More

From our experience, you do need hat and sunscreen, as RRA advises. However, you don't need the watershoes or 'croakies' they try to sell at check-in. They do suggest going down the river at your own pace, which is great. But at take-out you can wait and wait and wait for the ride back. While you do, there are no... More

After spending a few days visiting wineries in Napa and Sonoma we wanted a day off. We elected to do the full day tour. The people were very gracious and provided coolers free of charge. We went to John's Market and got sandwiches and drinks for the trip. The sandwiches were made to order and were fantastic. On our previous... More

Although it was tricky to steer the kayaks we had great fun on this very cool way to see the Russian River on a hot day

The day was perfect to be out on the river. Some parts are hard to navigate around and you'll probably have to walk your boat when you come to a shallow part of the river. There were three of us and we had to share the same boat. I would've preferred to have one for each person, and because of... More

Key points to note: 1) In sum: You rent a kayak, they drive your heavy items down to the kayaks, they explain how it works and what to watch out for, you kayak with your cooler/family/partner 8 miles, they pick you up, and drive you back (saw some reviews about the drivers, I thought the drivers were fine, people should... Before the drought, this was our go to Father's Day adventure. Hopefully the river will continue to hold enough water for more adventures! The prices are reasonable, and the pull off places for lunch and swimming are delightful.

I had a great moment with my friends who organize this adventure two days before their wedding. The view on beautiful houses next to the river. Relaxing and fun! If you around you should do it! Go!!!!

The river was shallow, but running well. The inflatables were impossible to turn over, although tricky to keep straight. The day drifting down the river was fun and a great change of pace. The crew was attentive. Worth doing.

There are several Russian River outfitters. RRA did a fine job for us and didn't make us wait around too long at either end--one of the major problems with this sort of thing. Generally we recommend heading down river from Memorial Beach towards the coast--not doing the shorter trip from Alexander Valley to Memorial beach which is more developed
