Since 1982, Stuhlmuller Vineyards has built a reputation as growers of world-class grapes, selling their coveted fruit to a number of top area wineries. By the mid-'90s, Fritz Stuhlmuller was so inspired by the complex wines being made from his family's vineyard that he established a small, artisan winery bearing the Stuhlmuller name.

The vineyard's unique terroir creates Chardonnay fruit with classic Alexander Valley tropical characteristics, food-friendly citrus acidity and a distinctive mineral touch.

The Cabernet Sauvignon offers enticing hints of sage and bay leaf coupled with the region's signature flavors of rich cherry, black fruit and cocoa.

In 2000 Stuhlmuller Vineyards built a new winery on the property, sized precisely to handle the small amounts of world-class, estate fruit the Stuhlmullers select to create their wines. Guided by gifted winemaker Leo Hansen, Stuhlmuller Vineyards handcrafts, small-lot wines that embody a rich, expressive charm, and a distinctive sense of place.

We would never have found this secluded and charming winery without our guide. It was a great surprise. The staff were all warm and friendly; we truly felt like we were just hanging out with friends drinking fantastic wines. The Zinfandel is amazing. It is a new favorite. Highly recommend checking out this winery when visiting this northern Sonoma County.

Visited mid April to pick up our spring wine club selections. As always, tasting room staff was very friendly and helpful. Wines seem to improve annually; particularly enjoyed the Summit Chardonnay and Block 11 Cabernet. Very pleasant facility; many picnic tables on patio.

Stuhlmuller is a very unpretentious and small winery in a red bad with a tiny tasting room attached. It is a bit off the beaten path, and we would not have gone there had it not been for a server at another winery making the recommendation. We're glad we went. We had a delightful server and some really good wine!... More

The winery was on a side road which used to be where the Wells Fargo stagecoach traveled. The winery was mostly known for Zinfandel, Chardonnay, and Cabernet Sauvignon wines. My husband bought the 2103 estate Zinfandel which was intense and robust. The staff was friendly and very informative. There was outdoor patio seating, a large table inside and a few... More

I was traveling solo on a weekend wine buying trip and looking for new wineries I had never been to. It was a wonderful little spot and great place to enjoy some nice wines in a comfortable tasting room. The staff was very knowledgeable on the wines and the production process. Great place to bring a little picnic and be... More

This winery is definitely off the beaten path in Alexander Valley, and worth the scenic drive to get there. Because it takes a little effort to get there, it seems unlikely that you'll find yourself elbow to elbow with dozens of other people in the tasting room. On a weekday afternoon in October, it was just us and one other... More

A big shout out to Andrew who took us through our flight. He knew his wines well and was a great ambassador for the brand. Showing soils from where the grapes were from and the process from the soil to the bottle. He made us feel at home. He has lived in Wugene, Or, we're we are from and talked... More

We were a large group visiting and we did have a reservation. They had a nice table set up for us but unfortunately there were at least 3 other groups crowded in the room for tastings. The acoustics are terrible and clearly not meant for that many people. It was almost impossible to hear the descriptions of wine and too... More

This place definitely is a find!!!! Love their Chardonnay, and I am not a Chard fan! Small winery with big flavors, decent prices. Don't let the long drive, some on an unpaved road, deter you. The drive is lovely and the reward is a beautiful, intimate tasting room with spectacular wines. We have several more bottles in our storage, waiting... More

Fortunately for us, someone recommended we check out Stuhlmuller Vineyards. What a beautiful setting and great wine. Julie, our host, offered a wine and cheese pairing and it was fabulous. She was very personable and knowledgeable about both the 5 wine and the 5 cheese selections (and hearty portions!). We sat outside and really enjoyed this experience. We visited several... More
