Casual drop in wine tasting

Nice laid back tasting experience in an interesting and historic building. Pinot noir is good but not great.

It's been a long time since we've visited Hop Kiln, now owned by Landmark. They offer an impressive range of Chardonnays and Pinots that if you try both flights, will offer many great wines. That was the good part. The bad part was several fold. It was a hot day and either they have no AC in the tasting room... More

The building, grounds and the tasting room were really need to go through. Lots of neat architectural features. The tasting selections were pretty good, but portions were really skimpy. They said they conduct tours of the old hops drying kiln, but they need 24 hours notice. We didn't know that so we missed that part of the experience. The gift... More

Plus: the historic and impressive oast house; the gifts, items, foodstuffs on sale at the shop within; the very long bar, also within; the very friendly and un-pretentious staff behind it; the list of wines atop it; the chance to sample some local artisan cheese with your wine for a very reasonable price; the fact that most (all?) wines are... Beautiful winery, people so friendly, take care the customers even teach you a new technic to test wine. So cheap to test. I'm in love with this place.

This was our very first winery stop during our 3 day trip to Sonoma County. When we pulled in, the grounds and the building are impressive. We entered the spacious tasting room and shop with great expectations. While certainly not wine conisseurs, my friend and I have been enjoying wine for many years and have tasted far better wines in... More

I chose this winery for a picnic after doing research saying this was winery has the best view in all of Russian River. They have a nice place, tons of green lawns, a pond and what was a nice view. There has been some wild growth that blocks the view to the valley. Because it is a drought, the pond... More

Wine tasting can be intimidating and those involved in the industry can come across as snobbish but our experience here could not have been more different. Friendly and relaxed tasting sessions could be experienced with no prior reservation. The history of the main building as an old oast house served to make the experience more interesting and we were even... More

Located in a 1905 building used to process the hops grown in the area back at the turn of the century, this place is pleasing to the eye and toothsome to the palate. A nice range of wines are offered and they are well done.

HKG produces some lovely wines and the setting is a perfect spot for a picnic. The grounds are picturesque with the historic Hop Kiln, the vineyards and pond and the fantastic butterfly bushes filled with colorful butterflies. If you don't bring your own lunch they have a fine selection of cheeses, salami, crackers etc. Their sparkling rose is wonderful for... More
