I was here in July and a few months ago. It is a nice, open beach with a long stretch for walking and to have a picnic. In season whales come within 100 yards of the shore. There is a nice visitor center as well.

The beach was nice & clean, lots of picnic tables. Good place for family time, unfortunately the bathrooms were horrendous, otherwise I'd have given a 4 rating.

Camping doesn't get much better in California if you love the sounds of crashing waves as you drift off to sleep. The campsite is small but perfectly formed with basic clean facilities. The beach is genuinely a stones throw from some sites (we tested it)....More

Soft sand and practically empty beach. Loved listening to the sound of the waves crashing and staring at all the beautiful scenery!

Don't head to Half Moon Bay expecting to swim and sunbathe unless you bring a sweatshirt! This place always absolutely gorgeous! There was ample parking, camping, and restroom facilities. The beach was clean overall, which is a plus when kids want to walk around without...More

Nice wide beach - family and pet friendly. Easy access and lots of parking (you pay by the hour with a meter). Its like one big summer party, including volley ball and picnics. Nice place for a day at the beach.

I'm a southern girl, so it makes me wince when you need a sweatshirt to go to the beach in July. Beautiful beach. We saw something with a fin surface from the water today, likely a porpoise. Super cool. Family friendly place. Bring your tent...More

The walk-in sites are within 50 yards of parking. There is one small parking area at that corner of the campground that is for the exclusive use of tent campers. If you go to Google Earth it will take you to Dunes Beach... More

Depends on when you want to visit. It gets sold out quickly around summer and also during the Pumpkin Festival. Other times your easy to get in whenever you want.
