Great burgers in a great Gold Mining era saloon

The Iron Door has been around since 1852, continuously operating! Great food, atmosphere. Try throwing a dollar bill and sticking it to the ceiling (its a local thing!)

Even if you are not eating, this is worth a peek. It is the oldest continuously running saloon (bar) in California. The ceiling is full of dollar bills. Food is good. Service is friendly. Looks like entertainment is a hit!

Called in for drinks and bite to eat and found the place to be full. Spoke to a lady about ordering some food who didn't seem to pleased and suggested an hours wait so we went for a walk along the high street. On returning we went to the bar and ordered some drinks and were served by a delightful... More

We stopped here on our way to Yosemite Park and found it a perfect place for a pit stop. Our four daughters were not of course allowed to sit at the bar, but hey: law is law. Not for Dutchies to question. Personnel is very friendly and takes the time for chat. Could be the time of day because it... More

Fun, ecclectic bar. Food was good and the beer was great and cold. It was fun to watch one of the families eating at the bar trying to get their dollar bill stuck to the ceiling...along with many others up there.

Stayed in this quaint little town for 1 night on route to Yosemite. We didn't eat at the saloon but went for drinks. What a pleasant evening- live band and all. Being tourists, this felt like being in a western movie. The barmen, decor, music and patrons... Loved it

I read that this was the oldest continuously operated bar in California -- lots of things to look at while there --- the food was very good. It can be a bit crowded on the weekends.

It’s like a western set the main street of Groveland with the Iron Door saloon and Iron door General Store plus the wooden hotel charlotte that looked to have been modernised, but keeping the original features. If you are visiting Yosemite it’s a long way from everywhere so staying in Groveland makes a lot of sense and adds to the... More
