We visited here on 8/17/18 and thought it was one of the best redwood stands we'd seen. The Exhibit loop trail near the visitor center is a must see. We hiked Lookout trail, the redwoods were great but the look out is only OK, not...More

On HWY 101 the short, yet, majestic drive through Richardson's Grove is the most jaw-dropping. Be prepared to drive slowly through this stretch of highway with towering trees. There are a couple of small pull off spots ( Used to be a wonderful Redwood Building...More

Richardson’s Grove is a beautiful place to camp. It is right in the middle of a grove of Redwoods. Well kept camp ground, access to wading in the Eel River, nice interpretive trail.

Seems like a kid friendly place. We thought we will do it while on our way back but we missed it due to lack of time.

This is a great place to see the redwoods. My family has been visiting for 40 years. While the area has gone down, Richardson Grove is worth the stop.

The visitor center is only open on weekends. There is a nice handicapped accessible trail near the visitor center and from there it is just across the road to the river.

If I was trailer or tent camping this is the best place in the Redwoods. All of the spaces are secluded by huge trees. If you tent camp, you will be down by the river.

This is a CA State Campground in the middle of a Redwood Forest and as far as I know they haven’t figured out how to put WiFi in a campground that doesn’t even have electric hook ups. Our Verizon cell service worked in most... More
