Highly recommend for old and young alike! They have done a lot of work to expand this zoo, and it is a nice place to visit. They have worked tirelessly to rescue animals and provide them a happy, healthy Sanctuary!

We have been going to this zoo for many years. We really enjoy their Christmas time festivities. The staff is friendly and helpful.

I must confess I avoid visiting a zoo of any kind as I detest seeing wildlife in captivity. But ths is different. Ths is a sanctuary for wildlife that cannot live in the wild for whatever reason. I saw mountain lions and bears that looked healthy and happy. I loved witnessing children visiting this venue , gleefully seeing wildlife they... More

I love this zoo. All the animals have been rescued and each has a story that is on display. It's a small zoo that can be viewed in it's entirety in 1 hour! It's ideal for children 4 and under. Bonus...it's next to a playground, park, library and small train ride.

The Folsom Zoo is absolutely charming. The animals that inhabit the refuge have been rescued from illegal handlers and orphan situations. The enclosures are abundant and every effort is made to give the animals peace and tranquility. The grounds are beautiful and I never tire of taking a walk thru the meandering trails. The place is loaded with resident peacocks... More

I took kids aged from 6 to 17 and we enjoyed the zoo. We showed up late in the day and got through the whole zoo in about 1 - 1 1/2 hours. We took lots of pictures. Loved that the deer came right up to us. There is a nice park next to the zoo that we played at... More

The Folsom Zoo is smaller than many zoos, but still quite interesting. They specifically house animals that are native to the Sacramento valley and foothills. They also are home to a number of "rescue " animals that would not be able to survive in the wild. There are volunteer docents that provide background on the animals and make presentations. Because... More

I enjoy seeing animals I would normally see, but I'm also bothered by the enclosed areas they are confined to live. This zoo takes abandoned bear cubs, or injured animals and provides a life for them. It's a wonderful zoo and a great family outing for all ages. There is a park next to the zoo and so bring a... This zoo is made up of rescued animals and they do a wonderful job. Not too good for seniors who have trouble walking because of the curving walkways. If you're in town around Christmas time, go at night to see"Wild Nights and Holiday Lights", Dec 2-3, 9-10 and 16-23, 5-8 pm. Thousands of colorful LED lights adorn the zoo and... More
