A step back in time

A thoroughly enjoyable morning spent at the railway- away from the chaos that is Cali. It was like stepping back in time.

The Fillmore & Western Railway has a museum as well as an actual working railroad that you can hold parties or have a conducted rail experience on. For old train buffs this is a great way to end your day in Santa Paula.

We visited during Christmas Season and it was so cute! I will do it again and maybe next time go and get the Christmas tree from the farm since they have a tour for that as well. I love trains and this is such and old fashion activity.

Well we finally took the Polar Express up in Fillmore, California. We had heard about it from quite a few friends. From LA, depending on traffic the drive is 1.5 to 2 hours. We had heavy rain, and it was dark, so it seemed longer. We waited until we got there to get the kids in PJ's, my wife and... More

This is one of those experiences, that it is what you make it. All of the pieces for a great family adventure are there. I especially recommend for family's with children age 5-12. You settle in on the train, and as it begins to move, Christmas carolers go to each car and sing (feel free to join in of course)... More

I loved it!! My family decided to go back again because we loved it so much the last time. The actors were very great and very humorous. The food was good and it overall was an amazing experience.

If I could assign a negative rating, I would. We were so disappointed for the amount of money that it costs to take the train to a pumpkin patch that is so small and is right off the freeway. There is hardly anything to do and most of the pumpkins were not in good shape. One of "cowboys" they hire... More

Cool old school train, stopped at a park and a honey farm. People working were really nice and know their history. Three main areas of the train to hang out in. Dining cart has AC which was nice. Open air part of the train was fun. Ate a wrap on the train which was very good. They serve wine and... More

First time on a train. Got to see hidden parts of the area and a very sticky ranch. Once at Piru, the train let everyone out to explore. There was a nearby park right next to the stop the young ones loved. On the way back stopping at Bennets honey. Local honey made by local honey bees using only certain... More

My mother bought our family tickets for the Western Murder Mystery Dinner Train as a Christmas gift. We did this about 15 years ago and loved it then. There is a winery on site where you can taste some wine before the train ride. Once on the train you already have your salad on the table as well as some... More
