With a summer trip to South Lake Tahoe, there is an endless array of activities to chose from; however, I would like to suggest one of the lesser known options: a hike to Angora Lake. To give you fair warning, the hike is not an...More

My older kids wanted to find a great cliff-jumping location. I googled to find Angora Lakes. We took our large extended family with teens, kids, and grandkids. The uphill hike is short and lovely. The resort area around the lake is like a step back...More

On this little hike it is the destination and not the journey that is the point, as the journey is very brief. And the destination is just lovely. In its own way it is reminiscent of my Michigan upbringing. It was like finding a large,...More

This isn't a hike to a pristine alpine lake. It's a long'ish walk to a small resort set in a gorgeous location. If you're loaded up with beach chairs, floaties and coolers then the road/trail up to the lakes from the parking would be draining....More

My family has been visiting Upper Angora Lake for nearly 20 years. The forest service road that climbs above Fallen Leak Lake is very bumpy at the start but smooths out. We have driven it with a Prius as well as SUVs. Both types of...More

Stunning! Best hike of our week in Tahoe. We arrived early and stayed all day. 1/2 mile hike from parking lot to beach. Need $7 park. They have lunch and other snacks up at the resort. Don't miss this!

Hiked in the winter, had a hard time finding the trail head, so we hiked along the road, until we entered a residential area that had many posted signs "Private property". Beautiful lake, just make sure you find the trailhead.

Co-worker told me about this place- you can drive most of the way, and it's only a 0.6 mile hike to the lake/resort. Probably because of this, the place can get a little crowded, so plan to go early (the parking lots will fill). Bring...More

I visited the Angora Lakes Resort today. The lake was quaint and beautiful. The staff at the resort desk was very nice. For lunch the turkey humus and world famous lemonade were delicious! Great meal after a hike! :)

Have been coming to Angora Lake for quite a while - 60 years and thank God it remains the same. Truly carved from Heaven and if you arrive like I did on a weekday in October - you won't find a soul. Absolutely quiet, serene...More

They have lakeside boulders that patrons jump from, but it's strongly discouraged due to the decent likelihood of injury or death, and the remote location and delay in emergency response. In fact, the day we visited, a note... More
