We arrived right at the opening of the day and we were the first people there. It is located just of highway 101 on a high greasy bluff. Only one original building remains, but there are others that are still standing as well. We were...More

Had some time to fill before our place to stay was ready so we found the fort. It was very interesting and easy to walk around. Highly recommend folks go check it out. It is mostly outside but we had perfect weather.

Fort Humboldt is just off the highway and well worth the visit. President Grant served in this outpost. There is also a logging exibit that has many of the things that were used in the area during the hayday of local logging industry. If you...More

I liked this place because we could do it at the speed we wanted to. It's small, yes but we enjoyed ourselves here. It's worth the time and if you enjoy history, you'll enjoy this place. Come check it out!!

History buff here, I have seen many forts, this doesn't rank high, only a few buildings, few exhibits (unless you like logging), it is ADJACENT TO but not ON Highway 101 despite the maps. There is a sign that says "Fort Humbolt State Park" but...More

This was super close to our hotel. We had a great time walking to each room. It is worth the time and we enjoyed reading about the town at the time. Also has some information on logging and trains.

Every fort deserves a visit and this one has a lot to offer. The fort was placed on pristine elevated grounds which provided an excellent observation point of the Humboldt bay area. There are several buildings to walk through and exhibits to study. On the...More

Not what I particularly liked.. Just ground with old buildings.. A friend went there with a tour and was impressed.. I guess they had a historian that gave a talk on the place.. We drive by it all the time, but rarely go into the...More

This is a very easy attraction to access from town. Fort Humboldt was once commanded by Ulysis Grant. There's actually two attractions at Fort Humboldt. The Fort, and a logging museum which is incredible in it's own right.
