Tripadvisor’s approach to reviews
Before posting, each Tripadvisor review goes through an automated tracking system, which collects information, answering the following questions: how, what, where and when. If the system detects something that potentially contradicts our community guidelines, the review is not published.
When the system detects a problem, a review may be automatically rejected, sent to the reviewer for validation, or manually reviewed by our team of content specialists, who work 24/7 to maintain the quality of the reviews on our site.
Our team checks each review posted on the site disputed by our community as not meeting our community guidelines.

Well worth the steep climb to see this monument to a very sad incident in Greece's history. At the monument there are impressive views over the mountains and out to sea.

Steep climb for good-footed; 410 steps. Take it easy and you get there! It is worth it! But do not forget water bottles like we did.

Very impressive and striking monument on top of mount zalongo.
There is a monastery by the car park, well worth a visit if open before you ascend the 410 steps to the statues.
Read the information board before you start the climb. Very sad story, great that Greece have done something to recognise what these women did.
The views at the top are spectacular.

We stopped here on our trip from Lefkada to Arta, combining it with a stop at the Archaeological Site of Cassope. They both have free entry, interesting history and encompassing views of the Ionian Sea and the Ambracian Gulf.

There's no easy way up to the monument, and that's good, because this is such a sad story that you should have to work a little to appreciate it.
After a drive up to the Monastery at the base of the cliff, you have around a 90 meter climb up a pathway with steps laid out for you.
At the top the view is stunning, but that's not why you make this visit.
They died free and undefiled.

Very nice view. We really loved it. Just keep in mind that you need to wear athletic clothing because the monument is on the top of the mountain. There are around 300 stairs.

Amazing place with breathtaking scenery and interesting history. Try locating the hidden path that will lead you to a picturesque church within the forest.

Even if you cannot climb up to this monument just to see it from the road and know its history is quite moving. The women and children threw themselves off the cliff to avoid capture, all the while singing and dancing.

We decided to do a little sight seeing while in Preveza Greece.. this monument is stunning and has such a story! There are quite a few stairs to the top but the view from up there is breathtaking.
