The lake is small and nothing was biting. A couple of other fishermen fished for several hours too and didn't catch anything. There were many hornets everywhere, my daughter was stung by one. The positive is that the ranger station had a lot of bait...More

My family stopped here for a few hours to stretch their legs on the way to San Diego. The park is not horrible but I am guessing the bathrooms, trails, shelters, etc were installed in the 1960's and they are badly in need of replacement/refurbishment....More

Dixon lake is East of Escondido in the foothills. It is a great family place for a variety of outdoor activities. Boating, and fishing are good. We go there for picnic's and find it a wonderful serene spot that is close to town.

It has a very clean environment around and in the lake. There are many great hiking trails around the lake. Also, it is great for fishing. Many grassy areas are open for picnics. It is free to enter on the weekends.

Reasonable fees, around $3-$5, yes to the easy hiking as well. Beautiful, scenic lake, worth the trip!
