A peaceful afternoon. This is a beautifully aesthetic and fragrant garden. It’s small if you were to walk the whole path it would be less than 30 mins. But this place is meant to sit and just be. Lots of benches to sit and meditate some overlooking the ocean, koi ponds and other plants and flowers. Please be respectful of others and keep talking to a minimum so everyone can enjoy the peacefulness.

Met a friend for lunch around the corner, he suggested we stop by as it’s one of his favorite places. Really pretty views of the ocean, lovely plants, and koi ponds with BIG FISH. You can see it all in 20 minutes or hang out on one of the many benches and just relax.

Do not leave Encinitas until you visit the meditation garden. Back in the beauty of this spiritual place. Everyone can enjoy this peaceful gift. A walk trough the gardens is like traveling in a tropical world. Gorgeous. May peace and kindness fill your life. If you don't know where to start- visit this garden.

For spiritual folk or those seeking a little peace and serenity, Self Realization Fellowship is worth a visit. Even the gift shop is a bastion of tranquility. The gardens are small, but endearing. Please leave your worldliness at the door and connect with your inner wholeness...

This is one of my favorites and I come back each time I am in the area. Beautiful oceanfront gardens and trails with beautiful flora, succulents, and lots of birds. Wonderful to just sit, walk, or just relax in the peace and quiet. All visitors are asked to whisper only. The view of the beach and ocean below is spectacular!

Beautiful gardens to walk around. Very peaceful and relaxing with stunning views of the Pacific ocean. Plenty of seats all around the garden to sit and enjoy the surroundings. A hidden gem with no admission charges. Highly recommend visiting.

My family and I were taking a walk after lunch and came upon these gardens. The gardens are small but seem very beautiful.
We didn't spend long though because we were quickly approached my a guard that informed us that under no circumstances was food allowed in the gardens. We had a plastic bag with our leftovers that were sealed. We had not been attempting to eat anything. We were told to leave our bag at the entrance or to leave. Leave our bag of food at the entrance? Who leaves a bag of food unguarded? My daughter and I did take a short walk around while my husband went back to the front but was no longer in the mood. Also saw the same guard not so kindly telling a little girl to get back on the path. Yes, the gardens need to be maintaned but a smile and some courtesy goes a long way.

Saw some pictures on trip advisor and added it to our agenda. May have been the most beautiful gardens and ocean views I have ever seen.

I LOVE this place and am always keen to show it off to visitors, as it is so special and they are always impressed.
From the roadside, it doesn't really look much but after walking along the pathways - from the shade, koi pond and gnarly trees to the stark sunshine, tropical plants and fabulous view of the ocean, you suddenly feel at peace.
If you have time, then take a book or just sit quietly and soak up the atmosphere.

No, it is not possible to sleep inside, unless you just want to sit on a bench under a tree for a quick nap.

How large-acres?-are the gardens? We will be staying in La Jolla and want to visit the San Diego Botanical Gardens in Encinitas.
How long would you plan on visiting these separate gardens? Also plan on waliking some beaches in area.
Written 31 March 2018
The Botanical Garden is quite large, and I you want to explore it thoroughly, I would recommend a half-day visit or even a whole day visit if you are very keen on plants.
The SRF gardens are not very large, and assuming you don't want to sit and meditate there or just sit and absorb the vibes, I would not think you would need more than an hour or two there to explore.

What is the best month to go to the gardens?
How much does it cosy?
Written 2 February 2018
There is no charge to visit the gardens. As for the best time of year, I have been there in October as well as January and February. Each time I have visited, there have been flowers in bloom. Much care goes into maintaining the gardens. Donations are appreciated. I hope that helps.
Written 6 February 2018
It's closed on Mondays. If you Google 'SRF meditation gardens opening hours' you'll get a link to the website with the opening hours for the gardens. There is a retreat center attached to it, but you have to be a member of SRF to join the retreats. There is a reception at the bottom of the gardens where you can get more information. Enjoy!

Are there meditation classes available there?
Written 1 September 2017
There are weekend retreats available, as long as you are a member of Self-Realization Fellowship you can attend the retreats.
They also have wonderful services in a temple a block away. If you Google 'SRF temple Encinitas' the details will come up :)

What hours can you visit the gardens and how is reached from 101 Coast Highway?
Written 3 February 2017
Not sure about the hours. But we went there around 10am and I know they close at 5pm.
It's right off 101/coast highway. Beside Swamis beach. Just key in the address in your gps and it will take you there. 😉

Yes, I have seen many children on the grounds over the years. Please be aware that it is a place at which people are asked to be quiet. So no crying, running, screaming .... people want to meditate.
