This is the place us locals go when there are too many tourists in Santa Cruz. Great local beach and very dog friendly even though it is not officially a pet beach. Just remember to clean up after your pets please. No one wants to step in dog doodoo.

I can tell from the photos and descriptions that reviewers are getting Davenport Beach confused with Davenport Landing Beach. Two different beaches. Davenport Beach is across Highway 1 from the town of Davenport. Davenport Landing Beach is about a mile north. The photo above is Davenport Beach. Which accessed from the top of a cliff. A mile north is Davenport... More

Walked along near the old pier and the "shark" beach. (It has a rock sticking out that looks like a shark fin.) Easy access and very walkable.

Traveling down the California coast, we stayed in Davenport for a night and hiked down to the beach. Watched the waves pound the rocks as the tide came in. Nice secluded sandy beach. Worth the short hike down.

After visiting Swanton strawberry farms, we visited Davenport beach. Unique landforms and picturesque cave with the cold salt water gushing into the layers of slate

the cliffs surrounding the beach offer fantastic views; it was easy to get to then near the beach you have to check for the easiest way down to sand

Take Davenport Landing Road off Hwy 1 and you will be led directly to this beach. At the top of the trail is a very fun bench swing. When the wildflowers are not high, you can see the water. It is also a great place to watch the sunset. Small beach area with tide pools. Very hidden and quiet.
