Whale sharks can be seen in a small barangay Tan-awan, which is 10 km away from the center town of Oslob. Whale shark watching in Cebu started last September 2011 and it became popular all over the world when the news hit in the internet last November 2011. By December 2011, local fishermen's interact with the whale sharks by feeding them that result to flocking of tourist to the beach of Tan-awan. Large numbers of tourists began arriving in Oslob not just to see the whale sharks being fed but also to snorkel or dive with them.

Yes, there are whale sharks here. Yes, you can swim with them. This is a zoo. The whale sharks are in a roped off area, and fed from the boats. They are babies and released when they get too large, to be replaced by other pups. However this is a far better option for the locals than fishing them, as... More

Dive trip with whale sharks is convenient. Advise to go there early, you wil see the whale shark. Luckly, i was to find 6 whale sharks, which did not crowd with other people much. My boat was 6 peoples with 1 boat that feed the whale sharks. The whale sharks would swim around. I saw 2 whale sharks swim back... More

The whale sharks are awesome! Being there with them, up close is a one of a kind experience. It can be chaotic. Some would say the people of Oslob are hurting the beautiful creatures for money. Oslob is a poor town. Let us be thankful they have this kind of tourism. I don't think they abuse it. I would recommend... More

After arriving with masses of people, hearing a talk about what to do and not to do, a mad scramble for ticket no's and then waiting while watching numerous boats with people are taken just offshore to the feeding circus area. My family and I decided not to take part in this sad sad event and hopefully more people feel... More

It's like a circus there! Despite the "briefing" that the whale sharks are not to be touched at any time, several tourists still touch the poor creatures. These whale sharks are lured in with food. I would not recommend this activity.

Amazing to get up close to these creatures but to be a critic there was far to many people in the water at the same time scrambling to get a picture/video! The price was good but unfortunately it wasn't what we had anticipated.

It took us about 4 hours to reach Oslob from Cebu City. We took off 3AM to be there by 7AM which i think is the second batch of whale watching. They usually starts at 6AM. The activity started with a briefing from the environment department and local government. Typical Do's & Don'ts. NO SUNCREEN please! And they are strict... More

For about USD $25, you get up close to the Whale Sharks. You might read that the practice of feeding the sharks is somewhat dubious, but that doesn't take away from the experience. I loved it. You are taken out on a boat, and can swim, or just view from the boat. Don't touch them, or you can get in... More

Well worth the near 4 hour bus ride to Oslob and the overnight stay at Brumini Resort to wake up at dawn to start the boat ride to watch the whale sharks. There is a short seminar on the do's and dont's before the short banca ride a couple of hundred meters offshore in clear blue waters to watch the... More

oh the chaos that comes with seeing these beautiful majestic creatures. We were shuttled in by the resort we stayed at. At the resort they indicated there were two price points. 300 pesos to sit on the boat to take pictures of the whlae sharks and 500 pesos to swim  for 30 minutes with the whale sharks. Two of us...
